CDC: Stop washing your raw chicken
fox ^ | 2 May 2019 | Alexandria Hein

Don’t wash your raw chicken! Washing can spread germs from the chicken to other food or utensils in the kitchen. https://go.usa.gov/xmTqz

The agency recommended placing raw chicken in a disposable bag before placing it in the shopping cart or refrigerator, washing hands with soapy water after handling it, using a separate cutting board to handle it, and never placing cooked food or fresh produce on the same surface as uncooked chicken.

I’m bad about not picking it up in the yard. But that’s pretty gross, as they’ll walk right through it whenever they’re out there. I think they do it on purpose. Not to mention the flies it draws. Yuk. But when we walk out dogs in the park, we always pick it up in those little plastic dog poo bags.

Perdue or Tyson, who are infamous for using illegal aliens with TB or other communicable diseases.

Raid after raid and they still use illegals.

It's not just chickens but all across the ag industry. Paula Deen, of the Foodnetwork, continued to be Smithfield ham's spokesperson after their raids. Of course, she didn't get fired from Foodnetwork until she had some of her black employees get into costume for some event.

Also, the Iowa dairy farm that employeed the murderer (last summer) of Molly Tibbetts and his whole illegal family. The owner had plans to becoming the Land Commissioner or some such political office. FYI, loony lib mama Tibbetts now has the murderer's illegal cousin living in Molly's bedroom.

I learned years ago to make our own holiday dinners. There’s less drama and we can enjoy our favorite traditional recipes and the meal is served at noon rather than hours after everyone has died of starvation. The turkey goes into the oven at 7 am and the dinner bell is rung at noon. The dressing is the kind we like. The sides are the ones we like. The pies are the ones we like. No fuss, no muss and we’re happy and relaxed.

If you must make an appearance elsewhere, just stop in for coffee.

The CDC said the same 30 years ago.

Those shows where they turn a black light on to see how germy your kitchen is show splashes from chickens get quite a distance from the sink.

They say don’t use a glass cutting board because it ruins your knives.

Just a few days ago, there was an article reporting they’ve increased the speed of chicken processing. Can’t remember how many can be run through but it’s seconds and too fast for the human eye to spot poo on the carcass.

I’m 67 years old, and that whole time, when we have a holiday meal, we leave everything out, so people can graze throughout the rest of the day, and not one person has ever gotten sick. My ex mother in law was the exception. She would put everything up and lock it away in the fridge as soon as the meal was finished. I like our way better.

Oh man. Jealousy is not right but I do love Australian Shepherds. Bandit, muh best girl, lived ages and hadn’t seen me in almost 5 years, hung out with me for four days. She passed like a year later but it was clear she was still my dog, according to my mom lol.

You take care of those two!

Always have my cat lick the chicken before baking it. Gets rid of any germs.

“Washing can spread germs from the chicken to other food or utensils in the kitchen.”

Because nobody ever washes their kitchen utensils or other food.

Um-mmm-good!

Hominy fried in bacon grease!!
A very good side dish.
May even coax you out of lurking in the shadows?
And (hominy) grits is just simple good living.

Fried grits+++!!!
Lutefisk not for me.

Specific foods processed with sodium hydroxide include:

German pretzels are poached in a boiling sodium carbonate solution or cold sodium hydroxide solution before baking, which contributes to their unique crust.
Lye-water is an essential ingredient in the crust of the traditional baked Chinese moon cakes.
Most yellow coloured Chinese noodles are made with lye-water but are commonly mistaken for containing egg.
Sodium hydroxide is also the chemical that causes gelling of egg whites in the production of Century eggs.
Some methods of preparing olives involve subjecting them to a lye-based brine.[38]
The Filipino dessert (kakanin) called kutsinta uses a small quantity of lye water to help give the rice flour batter a jelly like consistency. A similar process is also used in the kakanin known as pitsi-pitsi or pichi-pichi except that the mixture uses grated cassava instead of rice flour.
The Norwegian dish known as lutefisk (from lutfisk, “lye fish”).
Bagels are often boiled in a lye solution before baking, contributing to their shiny crust.
Hominy is dried maize (corn) kernels reconstituted by soaking in lye-water. These expand considerably in size and may be further processed by frying to make corn nuts or by drying and grinding to make grits. Hominy is used to create Masa, a popular flour used in Mexican cuisine to make Corn tortillas and tamales. Nixtamal is similar, but uses calcium hydroxide instead of sodium hydroxide.

Ah, jeez—trying to ruin Chinese and Mexican food for me?

(There wasn’t much to salvage as it was from the German and Norwegian!)

"I'm inclined to think this may be part of the "avoid meat" movement."

You're probably right. My Dad always cooked on the weekends, and holidays. He used to take the frozen turkey, submerge it in a big pot of salted water, cover it, and put it in the back hallway overnight. Most of the time it was cold outside, and there wasn't any heat in that hallway. People would cringe these days if someone did that. Neither him, my mother, or my three siblings ever got sick by the way he prepped the turkey.
