Todays Cryptogram
CXLVSHR NEST XEH SBAHR HEBEIIEQ EP VHT TEIIEQT, OYH EXUR SBAHVST HENCR EP VHT THISXZHK. ---JKCIUST TAYIZSEX .
Challenging CG today from the Arkansas Democrat Gazette. 5th and 8th words are the key, with lots of a vowel we seldom see more than the E.
You can find this little fun word game, to combat early dementia and senility in us baby boomers, in several daily publications, unfortunately they are copyrighted so we can't use them here. So, we're just going to make up our own.
The way it works is a letter stands for another letter. For example: AXYDLBAAXR is LONGFELLOW (does not apply to today's cryptogram).
Beware, the game is very addictive. If this is your first time, don't be intimidated.
PLEASE DO NOT post the answer in general comments, but DO post your time and any tips you might give the group on how you solve these puzzles as puzzle solvers love to hear how you made out.
You can certainly send your solution to my private reply, or if you need a hint for todays Cryptogram.
Solving the puzzle under 8 minutes is good, under 6 very good, under 4 excellent and under 2 "you're a pro!"
Those of you looking for an added challenge can try to solve one sentence or even one word at a time, i.e. solve the entire first line, then go to the second line etc.
If you need a little help you can copy the cryptogram and paste it to Hals Helper below:
You can then work on the puzzle without using pen and paper.

Solution to our last puzzle:
OUR ABILITY TO HANDLE LIFES CHALLENGES IS A MEASURE OF OUR STRENGTH OF CHARACTER. LES BROWN
3 min, and all too true.
Get the word after the comma.
4 1/2 min, difficult and the “thes” don’t help. You’re right, the 5th word was the key. After that, solution was only clicks away.
wow, who would have thought that a CG with the words “nest...this...” and ends with “sex” would be so difficult.
I have no clue how I cracked it within an hour. Did concentrate on the fifth and eighth words. Kept changing the ninth but my original guess was correct.
Somehow the author became obvious. I know it sounds a bit fishy considering I was tossing letters haphazardly.
I usually pick that conjunction first, but I’d mistranscribed the double I in the fifth word as an H, and was getting nowhere. Solved pretty quickly after verifying my transcription. Dementia may be on the run, but vision impairment continues unabated.

What broke it loose for me was the three-letter word after the comma, and then the second and third words, leading to a leap of faith for the duplicating "VHT" words.
After that, one word led to the next ...
I had to use Hal to crack it open. Took me probably 15 minutes.
Ok, I’m hooked now. Will you add me to your ping list please?
