"We are deeply sorry for the publication of an anti-Semitic political cartoon last Thursday in the print edition of The New York Times that circulates outside of the United States, and we are committed to making sure nothing like this happens again," the opinion section tweeted Sunday. "Such imagery is always dangerous, and at a time when anti-Semitism is on the rise worldwide, it's all the more unacceptable," continued the apology, which was widely shared on Twitter. The new apology said that the decision to run the syndicated cartoon was made by a single editor working without adequate oversight.

PHoney baloney. It was chosen to appear in the paper and its appearance blessed by the editor(s). It didn’t get there by “accident.”
I agree
What’s the big deal
It is a political cartoon
Rather clever even if I don’t agree with it
A good time for Alinsky rule # 4:Make the enemy live up to its own book of rules. You can kill them with this because no one can possibly obey all of their own rules.
Alinsky, you magnificent Bastard, I read your book!
Must have had subscription cancellations.
No they don’t care. They’re already thinking of other ways to slander Trump and Israel. Particularly non left Israelis.
Apologies from a leftist like the New York Times are nothing but bovine excretion dumped all over your feet
It’s creepy that an Israel hating, anti-Semitic newspaper like the New York Times can shovel that stuff out in a city with a relatively high proportion of Jews and it doesn’t seem to bother them.
It is also creepy that American Jews in general seem to have lost any sense of self-preservation and any understanding of history.
As Harry Reid said after his slander of Mittens Romney helped Obama win, “We won, didn’t we?” The NYT got the message out. They can say it won’t happen again (unless the DNC asks them to) till the cows come home. Meaningless. Frauds.
I don't think Carlos Slim is in danger of going bankrupt. He's the largest shareholder and could buy the rest with pocket change.
In these prophetic days, in essence closing out the Church Age Dispensation, as God turns His attention to the people of Israel and the time of Jacobs troubles, He is exposing the enemies of His chosen people.
Psalm 83:1-5 King James Version (KJV)
1 Keep not thou silence, O God: hold not thy peace, and be not still, O God.
2 For, lo, thine enemies make a tumult: and they that hate thee have lifted up the head.
3 They have taken crafty counsel against thy people, and consulted against thy hidden ones.
4 They have said, Come, and let us cut them off from being a nation; that the name of Israel may be no more in remembrance.
5 For they have consulted together with one consent: they are confederate against thee:
Matthew Chapter 25 describes the judgement of those nations that oppose Israel. There will be sheep nations and goat nations, and they will be judged accordingly.
God set aside the Jewish people (the Apple of Gods Eye) to do two things, to bring Grace to the Gentiles and to provoke Israel to jealousy. But in no way has God withdrawn His Covenant made to Abraham, Isaac and Jacob as preterists claim. What God has promised, He will fulfill. (see Romans chapters 9-11)
False doctrine teaches that prophecies concerning Israel has come to pass, and that we are currently living in the Millennial period. And also that the false teachings of Augustinian claim that God has revoked His promises to the Jewish people and has instead given to the church what He previously conveyed to the Jewish people.
This hatred for the Jewish people can also be seen through the teaching of islam, claiming the promise of the Covenant made through the Seed of Abraham was carried through the lineage of ishmael rather then through Isaac.
The reason for the worlds hatred towards Israel is because the world hates God. God will again re-graft Israel back into the Vine. This will come about following the battle of Armageddon, when Jesus returns and Israel receives Her King.
Zechariah 13:5-6 King James Version (KJV)
5 But he shall say, I am no prophet, I am an husbandman; for man taught me to keep cattle from my youth.
6 And one shall say unto him, What are these wounds in thine hands? Then he shall answer, Those with which I was wounded in the house of my friends.
If this was printed on the Front Page of the New York Times - above the fold - then maybe it IS an apology. If it’s printed on any other page it’s garbage.
“Whats the big deal, It is a political cartoon
Rather clever even if I dont agree with it”
My first reaction was not terribly good toward your post and the other guy who seems to think there is nothing wrong with the cartoon. But that would be wrong so I will put in my two cents worth as to who why I think it is so very wrong and anti-Semitic.
1. Millions of Muslims believe that Jews are descended from monkeys and dogs. In other words, they think that Jews are subhuman. Thus the prominent Star of David around the dog’s neck is as clear declaration that the cartoonists believes that Jews are subhuman too. If not, why would an artist draw a cartoon that millions of people would believe to be true.
2. In my opinion, this smacks of the old cartoons that Nazis drew about the Jews. They too believe that the Jews were subhuman. While it is possible to see “Hitler under every bush” this kind of carton was prominent among Nazis. I have seen them.
3. I think that this implies that President Trump is a Jew, with the skull cap on the head. I really don’t care but I think that many on the left would push this narrative.
This is a disgusting cartoon that crosses the line over political commentary and satire and should be condemned by all of us. Now, I didn’t flame anyone, so if you disagree don’t flame me.
Had a similar cartoon been depicted on a Conservative website or publication, but rather than Trump leading Bibi on a leash and Bibi depicted as Trumps “dog”, lets exchange Trumps character with that of obama, the character of Bibi with muhommud, and the Star of David withe the crescent and moon. And just for good measure, the dachshund with a pig.
Now, would that have been offensive to those that already hold hatred towards Israel? Just ask Pamela Geller.
How come I can’t find a picture of that cartoon anywhere???
I completely agree!
Had this been ideologically reversed in every aspect, the NYSlimes would have had a front page headline blaming Trump for the most recent Synagogue shooting. Consider the Charlottesville claim used yet today, albeit taken out of context.
ping me when someone is fired
riiiiiight
leftists lie as easily as they breath
these dirty propagandist will likely see their end at the hands of outraged mobs
