"We are deeply sorry for the publication of an anti-Semitic political cartoon last Thursday in the print edition of The New York Times that circulates outside of the United States, and we are committed to making sure nothing like this happens again," the opinion section tweeted Sunday. "Such imagery is always dangerous, and at a time when anti-Semitism is on the rise worldwide, it's all the more unacceptable," continued the apology, which was widely shared on Twitter. The new apology said that the decision to run the syndicated cartoon was made by a single editor working without adequate oversight.

They don’t give a shit.
Nice!
If the Slimes wants to impress me, they need to publish an editorial condemning AOC, Omar and other anti-semetic congresscritters who have blasted Israel and Jews.
Great mimes and all that. LOL!
They “intend” everything anti-Trump that goes onto their bird cage accessory. Anything putting Trump in a bad light is eagerly printed.
DO NOT, repeat DO NOT wait on this idea. You will be very very hungry.
They do not care
Close down the paper, sell all its assets, and give them to the poor that it pretends to love so much.
And what happened to that lone editor?
Nothing, probably - or they would have mentioned it.
Tells you all you need to know about the sanctimonious, lecturing NY Times.
Jeff Bezos will rescue the failing NYT through buying it.
1. The point being depicted is that Trump is being blindly led by Netanyahu. That's a political opinion, and not even remotely close to hateful of any group. It's silly, but at least it has substance and can be discussed among rational folks.
2. The Star of David only serves to identify Nentanyahu, and nothing else. I wouldn't have known it was BiBi otherwise, and 99% of the world wouldn't have either.
3. Bibi's eyebrows are distinctive to him, but nothing else about his appearance is exaggerated in a "racist" manner (hooked nose etc).
4. I don't know of any Israeli breeds of dogs, and neither does 99% of the world. There is no breed that is known for being a seeing-eye-dog breed, either (although Goldens are the best-ever at almost everything!). Choosing a dachshund does not make the cartoon racist or offensive, nor would it have been if it was a Shepard or Malinois or any other Germanic breed. Jewish people do not need to be segregated away from every German connection ever. I'm sure Bibi has been in a Mercedes or BMW before.
If you want to be offended by the mere sight of a Jewish person with a Star of David necklace, then you are likely the problem.
Note: I'm a huge Netanyahu supporter, and love our President for all the great things he has done, including for Israel (especially the embassy and open promises of support), so don't even bother going down that also-stupid road. I have no idea why the NYTimes is apologizing, other than reflex, since they are of the ilk that desperately try to be offended at everything, everywhere. But this cartoon is not racist in my eyes, at all.
Substantively show me where I am wrong. Keep the insults to yourself.
Yeah, he probably needs another Tax Write-Off.............
Its definitely antisemitic
“..Loudly throw poison out and quietly retract it...” - as it was wisely pointed earlier by a FReeper.
You are trying too hard to not see it. Oddly, the Nazis did the same thing to Churchill.
If an editor let that pass, they need to be fired.
The NYTs are only committed to making sure their true colors are never seen again.
He got promoted, I am sure. worth a million clicks to the New York Rag.
