WILDWOOD, N.J. (CBS) – While the Philadelphia Flyers will stop playing Kate Smith’s “God Bless America” at games following racism allegations, one Jersey Shore mayor said Monday he will continue to play her song on the boardwalk. Wildwood Mayor Ernie Troiano told The Dom Giordano Program on WPHT 1210 that Smith’s rendition of “God Bless America” will continue to be played on the boardwalk every morning.
“I’m just a small-town mayor and I look at what’s happening to the world and it’s amazing how everyone wants to rewrite history, no one wants to allow history to be an educator to help us improve in the future. We’re going to change history and what we don’t like we’re just going to erase,” Troiano said.

Ed Snider, their founder and original owner, passed away a couple or so years ago. He must be spinning in his grave. The Flyers have a history of saluting America, the military, etc. and were as right-of-center as any organization in sports. Their best player Bobby Clarke, from a past generation, despises liberalism and just yesterday said there isn’t nothing correct about being politically correct. Now, like most NHL teams, they have “Hockey for Everyone” days which includes pro-homosexuality messages in pregame ceremonies. This isn’t about hockey, it is about the crumbling of traditional values.

Kate recorded 3000 songs. The left is focused on 2 (0.06 %), which clearly do have racist lyrics. One was in some production, of which she probably didn't choose... and didn't write. I'd imagine similar with the other one. The other 2998 songs don't count.

The names of Revolutionary War heroes on education
building and even the names of the schools and universities that bear the name of Washington, Lee, etc.
It is not about any of these things individually. It is really about destroying our young people’s pride for who and what we as a nation are.

When are our gutless leaders going to put an end to this nonsense and tell them “That is the way it is. Get used to it”?
A better question is: When are we going to elect leaders who will tell them to get used to it?

Between the hiring of Alain Vignault (sp) and the Kate Smith debacle, the Flyers will be cursed until both are corrected. No Cup, no playoffs and the Broad Street pussycats.
Btw, maybe the fans will spontaneously start singing God Bless America after the National Anthem.
The Yankees removed the song, too but it is more so part of the legacy of the Flyers. Their current singer, who beat cancer and is the daughter to the Flyers’ now-deceased but eternally legendary broadcaster Gene Hart, mixed her rendition of the song with that of Kate Smith even into this most recent season. She made a comment about how she is saddened by the events. I wonder if certain rap music or artists will be banned from having their songs played at select sports venues.
The Flyers are now just another corporate run mediocre hockey team in a watered down and PC league.
They also hate God Bless America, or any other song that mentions the One who defeated the leader of their party. Liberals want to destroy the 4 Cs: Christianity, Constitution, Capitalism, and Conservatism.
You can bet a case of Tastycakes that the fans in the building WILL be singing GBA. The media may not show it, but it will happen.
