The marketing for Star Wars 9 is due to begin at this week's Star Wars Celebration in a dedicated panel on Friday, April 12 at 9.00am-10.00am PT (12.00pm-1.00pm ET, 5.00pm-6.00pm GMT). It's here we're expected to get the title and first trailer for Episode IX, likely at the end of the hour if the approach taken with Star Wars: The Last Jedi is anything to go by. The Star Wars 9 Celebration panel, as with all major Star Wars events over the weekend, will be live-streamed on the official Star Wars YouTube channel and also on StarWars.com..

^^ This, is a really good summation.
Fair enough criticism.
I will submit that the SWs movie universe lore isnt as screwed up, contrived and convoluted as the Marvel Cinematic Universe currently is, and that includes X-Men, Spider-Man and Avengers re boots and reinterpretations trying to cover huge continuity issues. The coming 3+ hour behemoth End Game will leave more questions than satisfying answers.
+1 for the great American composer John Williams.
His compositions in SW7 The Force Awakens make it another reason its a lot more re watchable than SW8 The Last Jedi (subpar re written & mixed up script notwithstanding).
Liked the first three movies. The rest, ehh...
to Marvel Comics credit theyve spent the last two years progressively telling in detail just how and why Anakin grew into the most powerful jedi/dark jedi in all off the SW lore. Darth Vader a stand alone explanation of his journey into the dark side has 25 very violent issues (not in any way like the candy coated SW Episodes 1, 2 & 3). The series of adult comic books reveals elements of his path that hopefully will be incorporated into SW9 and beyond.
read the issues #1 through #25:

To make women look strong, you must turn men into weak sniveling cowards. That’s the Star Wars message. It says a lot about what Disney thinks of women. Luke Skywalker is reduced to a pathetic hermit, while someone without any training can become a super Jedi warrior just by practice swinging a light saber a few times.
That about sums it up.
Am not going to watch it after the Last Jedi

It’s not because of a female lead or a black co-lead, it’s because TLJ destroyed the entire meaning of the star wars universe. To tartarus with them..
What is ironic is that Leia was already a strong, kick-ass woman working among rugged, kick-ass men like Han and Luke.
Yes, it does show how socialists see women....the same way they see minorities....as weak, helpless and needing a hand-out.
Bingo. Leia was already a strong woman. Men don’t need to be brought down for that.
The 2nd series dealt with complex issues of Republic vs Empire, of the Individual vs the the State. The last series is a bout glorifying ‘strong women’, unfortunately the first one should have ended when the robot clotheslined her, i couldnt see any human getting up without a concussion or blod clots on the brain. they ruined it cuz they made it more fake than it had to be to glorify what? women? pu-lease.
And her romance with another Diversity Hire while they pursue a totally insignificant plot twist.
And what does Mary Sue wow us with next!!!! I bet she launches into a Superwoman pose and saves the Universe!
And that Kathleen Kennedy! What a Wymin!
I sure hope she shows those Mansplaining, Manspreading, Cisgender white males who is Boss!!!!
J J Abrams is the best sci fi creator out today. Abrams is a super fan of the series himself. I can’t wait to see how it all wraps up myself.
I hope the Jedi are back. They just need new leadership. Yoda got lazy.
It will feel really spooky seeing Carrie Fisher though. It will be interesting to see how they fit her into the movie.
So Luke and Leia are back?
Wrong movie. Rey is never clotheslined by that droid in The Force Awakens. You’re thinking of the anthology movie Rogue One with Jyn Erso (and I must admit, I actually thought Jyn Erso was far better handled than Rey was. At least Erso didn’t ace everything perfectly.).
I’m hesitant to list the 2nd series as “individual vs. the state”. If anything, it was more like “collectivism vs. individualism”, with the Jedi and good guys representing collectivism and the Sith and bad guys representing individualism. Even Lucas made that pretty clear in a few interviews.
Honestly, I wasn’t looking forward to watching Episode VIII thanks both to The Force Awakens being a cheap remake of A New Hope and the fact that I was already boycotting Disney over gross stupidity that they displayed with Jemele Hill, LeFou in the 2017 remake of Beauty and the Beast, and Star vs. the Forces of Evil. I’m certainly not going to be watching Episode IX after the massive train wreck that was Episode VIII and Solo (or Resistance for that matter).
That’s the plot of Phantom Menace, Anakin is special because of his midichlorian count. There’s so much other stupid going on in the movie, it’s easy to miss the radical redefinition of what the Force was supposed to be.
Yeah i missed that part completely :)
What happened? they decided that the force sounded too religious in the first ones?
Wasn’t fond of that either. To be fair however, Lucas and Murch made it clear that even before the Prequel Trilogy, the Force was not meant to be religious, not specifically, anyways. It was meant to be a parable for guerrilla groups, specifically the Vietcong. As Murch put it in The Conversations:
Originally George Lucas was going to direct (Apocalypse Now), so it was a project that George and John (Milius) developed for Zoetrope. That was back in 1969. Then when Warner Brothers cancelled the funding for Zoetrope, the project was abandoned for a while. After the success of American Graffiti in 1973, George wanted to revive it, but it was still too hot a topic, the war was still on, and nobody wanted to finance something like that. So George considered his options: What did he really want to say in Apocalypse Now? The message boiled down to the ability of a small group of people to defeat a gigantic power simply by the force of their convictions. And he decided, All right, if its politically too hot as a contemporary subject, Ill put the essence of the story in outer space and make it happen in a galaxy long ago and far away. The rebel group were the North Vietnamese, and the Empire was the United States. And if you have the force, no matter how small you are, you can defeat the overwhelmingly big power. Star Wars is Georges transubstantiated version of Apocalypse Now.
