A Break From Serious Discussions SciFi Series That Didn't Get a Proper Chance
Why they should have had that chance? Why they failed?
I agree. To me, DS9 eclipsed Next Generation. Through the arc of DS9, I really came to like the Ferengi and the Klingons.
Blakes 7 the stories varied from excellent really attention grabbing to ‘they must have lost have the script!’.
Also the fight scene choreography was laughable!
Alf
Yes
Mork - no
Mork ran out of gags real quick and went to sex.
For any series to get a following, it has to be shown, new shows, for a lot of weeks and at the same time. How many series have died because you couldn’t find them or because every few weeks it was replaced by a “special”?
And fun!
Also The Tripods 1984-85. Based on the book series of the same name which dealt with life under alien domination after H.G Wells War of the Worlds was a real event.
Each season followed one of the books from the series.

I watched The Invaders and Kolchak in syndication. I liked both shows, and thought that Kolchak ended much more abruptly than did The Invaders.
A general statement, I think the problem with American TV is that they’re addicted to ratings. A show should end because that’s where the story ends. A good example would be Game of Thrones. This is supposed to be the last season. I haven’t watched the series yet but I know they have great ratings.
Eureka
Too damn many seasons.
I don’t think I every finished a TNG episode! I found the characters too pretentious and annoying. Data I constantly wanted to do ‘ctrl alt delete’ to!
Still, the show was interesting more often than not.
Agree!
Personally, I think it was that it was on Fox. They love to kill all the shows that I like.
But, from what I remember:
It was scheduled in the Friday night "death" slot.
Firefly was mispromoted from what it was. So, it's natural audience wasn't attracted to the show, and the trailers grabbed the wrong audience that developed a confused dissonance.
The network ran the epis out of order, generating even more confusion.
I always wanted Wesley to meet a gruesome end.
Yeah I remember commercials for it being somewhat off putting.
Same here!
Very much so!
It was a groundbreaker in many ways.
You obviously did not watch DS9.
I believe they are doing a movie on this.
