HAVING to get up in the middle of the night to pee could mean you have high blood pressure, scientists have discovered.
The risk is raised by 40 per cent by trips to the loo. And the more times you get up, the higher the chance.
High blood pressure can lead to heart attacks and strokes if left untreated. More than one in four adults in the UK have high blood pressure, although many won't realise it.
Dr Satoshi Konno of Japans Tohoku Rosai Hospital, which quizzed 3,749 people, warned sufferers to cut salt intake.
Compared to western countries, people in Japan eat more salt and are more likely to be "salt sensitive", meaning that their blood pressure rises more when salt is consumed.
Taken together, these two factors mean that people in Japan are at greater risk of developing high blood pressure.

There are plenty of studies showing no connection between salt and HBP.
Junk Science.
Seriously, the BEST insurance from heart attack is what?
MODERATE running, 3 times a week, for 20 minutes.
Then pee all you want.
Not a bad insurance policy at all.
ONLY running, nada mas.
I wouldn’t get too excited about this article.
My blood pressure is low and has been all my life.
High blood pressure is simply not an issue.
But guess what? I get up at least once a night to
take a leak. Sometimes twice. It’s a function of
liquid intake. If you already have high blood
pressure, they have better ways to measure it than
night pee.
If people drank as much water as most experts recommend, the average person would have 7 heart attacks by the time they are 30.
Obviously.

Great advice to just pee in bed.
What pee procedure is used on the top bunk?
I usually cut a hole and sleep on my stomach.
Please, FRiend, be of good cheer and stout heart. If eggs, alar on apples, SARS, swine flu, bird flu, Y2K, aerosols, and global warming havent killed you yet, Ill bet you can weather a little tinkle!
Zappa funny cause I was just singing that song tonight in the truck on the way home from the bar
Same here.
Yah, this is from a British tabloid. Nonsense, or at best partial truths.
[1] All men, all of us, will have our prostrate enlarge. This will happen as we get older. This will cause us to have middle-of-the-night peeing.
[2] One of the numerous signs of high blood pressure is urination. So is feeling faint, blurred vision, and being quick to anger.
If you find that you are going to the bathroom in the middle of the night, AND you haven’t had a check up in a year or so, then I would advise caution and get a physical check up. Tell the doctor about your peeing and urination episodes.
What ever you do, don’t get medical advice from a grocery-store tabloid.
Why does it hurt when I pee?
I thought it was a sign of an enlarged prostate for men, no idea what was supposed to mean for women — maybe urinary tract infection.
I never heard it could be the sign of impending heart attack or stroke.
These people—their job is to scare you.
Oh God I probably got the
