You know, the Jewish American breakfast staple with a slice right down the middle, often topped with lox and cream cheese. Yum!
But wait...what is...THIS:

A style of slicing bagels as you would a loaf of bread aka bread-sliced has caused OUTRAGE among a lot of people this week. (Ok, so not real outrage, but, like, bread outrage.)
The drama all started when Alek Krautmann, a St. Louis native and employee of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, tweeted a photo Monday of a box of Panera bagels looking like theyd gone through a paper shredder.
Today I introduced my coworkers to the St. Louis secret of ordering bagels bread sliced, he tweeted. It was a hit!

Fork it. Crispy morsels when toasted. Butter is all you need but cream cheese and lox is fine too. ; - )

Not a bad way to share bagels.Yeah...more for everyone. I'd like it because there is as much room on a slice for a schmear of cream cheese and less carbs. Instead of passing by the box o' bagels, I could certainly justify a slice like that.

I remember years ago people complaining about people toasting a sliced bagel as if it was wrong and not allowed.

According to Sheldon Cooper, tea is actually "leaf soup" ...

 He's wrong, of course.
 It's leaf broth.

Does that mean its a non-Euclidean bagel? Now you've done it, this conversation finally torus apart...

Into the extra virgin olive oil, mix salt, pepper, garlic powder and oregano. Maybe a splash of balsamic vinegar?

For ridiculously oversized, dry bagels, it actually makes sense, I guess.

Why, that’s the proper way a hot dog/lobster roll is sliced!

"Eat 'em however you like. It's a free country." HORRORS, have you no idea that there's such a thing as PURE SACRILEGE? For example, a good Jewish friend of mine once prepared appetizers by slicing Hebrew National franks into bite sized pieces and wrapping them with bacon. There are, after all, some things that must remain sacred.

Because it’s liquid salt with coloring added. Any remaining relation to a tomato is purely incidental.
