You know, the Jewish American breakfast staple with a slice right down the middle, often topped with lox and cream cheese. Yum!
But wait...what is...THIS:
A style of slicing bagels as you would a loaf of bread — aka bread-sliced — has caused OUTRAGE among a lot of people this week. (Ok, so not real outrage, but, like, bread outrage.)
The drama all started when Alek Krautmann, a St. Louis native and employee of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, tweeted a photo Monday of a box of Panera bagels looking like they’d gone through a paper shredder.
“Today I introduced my coworkers to the St. Louis secret of ordering bagels bread sliced,” he tweeted. “It was a hit!”

Slicing hands splitting bagels is supposed to be a big cause of emergency room admissions.

They were right about the Ketchup. Sorry it’s just wrong. When I was 11 or 12 my Dad took me to a fancy French restaurant in Montreal and I ordered a steak. I asked the snooty waiter for ketchup, I thought the man was going to kill me.
Frankly this works for me. I usually dont want even an entire 1/2 of a bagel. I never liked cutting them further, assuming a knife is available.
This way each person can take a little or take a lot.

I’d try it, bagels were to me, tough and chewy whole. Looks good for dipping in the cream cheese!
It looks like just a way to give people small, usable pieces, rather than the normal minimum of a quarter bagel.
I don’t care, there is a right way and a wrong way.
