You know, the Jewish American breakfast staple with a slice right down the middle, often topped with lox and cream cheese. Yum!
But wait...what is...THIS:
A style of slicing bagels as you would a loaf of bread aka bread-sliced has caused OUTRAGE among a lot of people this week. (Ok, so not real outrage, but, like, bread outrage.)
The drama all started when Alek Krautmann, a St. Louis native and employee of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, tweeted a photo Monday of a box of Panera bagels looking like theyd gone through a paper shredder.
Today I introduced my coworkers to the St. Louis secret of ordering bagels bread sliced, he tweeted. It was a hit!

The difference between knowledge and wisdom:
Knowledge is knowing that a tomato is a fruit. Wisdom is knowing that it does not belong in a fruit salad.
Only if you're uncircumcised.
Exactly!
Bagel hole. Is that a euphemism for Chuck Schumer?
Does that mean it’s a non-Euclidean bagel?
Somebody finally found a use for Vince Offer’s Slap Chop.
This has upset my feng shui.
Even like Pepperidge Farms in the store.
Sliced sagitally (midline, lengthwise, top, partially downward, straight down).
As opposed to the transverse, lateral, lengthwise partial cut of hot dog buns in the Real World.
When I first saw it, I was all, Whats up with this?
It turns out that they use the buns for lobster rolls, not just for hot dogs. With a hot dog, the NE buns hold the dog in an upward-pointing cradle, not hanging out the side.
Maybe they are on to something...
This is an attempt by the MSM to redirect Jewish outrage away from the Democrats.
Yup. More cream cheese and lox for me
But you do lose the texture of the outside and in the case of “everything” bagels, most of the seasoning.
But if you are cutting down on carb intake, maybe it paces you through it differently.
Wonder what it’s like dipping them in a dish of olive oil.
I eat at Panera every week (Bible Study) and they don’t slice them like that. And our cashier is from NYC and I am not about to ask.
Brilliant!
Into the extra virgin olive oil, mix salt, pepper, garlic powder and oregano.
I once had a pizza in Indiana that was sliced into small squares.
I like the idea. I will try it. More cream cheese to spread and savor.
no, they were put through a standard bread slicer.
Not to mention the least filling... ;)
