Todays Cryptogram
P TAZTBU JTN FJH TSPAPFB FY UTB VY. FJTFU JYZ P LTAAHN RB YZV UJYFU. UPNVHB KYPFPHC
You can find this little fun word game, to combat early dementia and senility in us baby boomers, in several daily publications, unfortunately they are copyrighted so we can't use them here. So, we're just going to make up our own.
The way it works is a letter stands for another letter.
For example: AXYDLBAAXR is LONGFELLOW (does not apply to today's cryptogram).
Beware, the game is very addictive. If this is your first time, don't be intimidated.
PLEASE DO NOT post the answer in general comments, but DO post your time and any tips you might give the group on how you solve these puzzles. Puzzle solvers love to hear if you found the CG challenging or easy.
You can certainly send your solution to my private reply, or if you need a hint for todays Cryptogram.
Solving the puzzle under 8 minutes is good, under 6 very good, under 4 excellent and under 2 "you're a pro!"
Those of you looking for an added challenge can try to solve one sentence or even one word at a time, i.e. solve the entire first line, then go to the second line etc.
If you need a little help you can copy the cryptogram and paste it to Hals Helper below:
You can then work on the puzzle without using pen and paper.

THE TROUBLE WITH USING EXPERIENCE AS A GUIDE IS THAT THE FINAL EXAM OFTEN COMES FIRST AND THEN THE LESSON. ANONYMOUS

There appears to be growing evidence that you can regenerate new brain cells thru excercize and perhaps certain foods and supplements.
I dont know.
I do know that several people have started doing these. They were slow at first, and now they finish them quickly.
Try todays. Ill send you a private clue.
About 2 and 1/2 min. After getting the 1 letter word, I was on the way to the dinner guest list.
FREE REPUBLIC could be written as
JSTT STAXMRZD
Look to start with one or two likely letters, and see if they lead you figuring out more letters to finish the word. My starting point is if a cryp contains the letters that become THAT and THE, I right away have t,h,a, and e.
One way to get started is to write out a cryptogram from a previous day that's already been solved. Underneath, write out the real letters for one long word, or for maybe the first two words. Then, the rest will usually fall in place. Once you get the hang of it, there will always be some challenge, but you'll get better every day.
It's excellent brain enhancement activity. Seeing patterns is math. Filling out the words is great practice with English, structure, and thinking about nice sayings. Let us know hou you do!
Good God in Heaven!!!
That’s HARD!!
Can the same letter stand for a different letter every day??
Like can N mean C one day and then N means B the next day?
I need an advil :(
ABXR MXF TE RBTE? AJMLJEMXF becomes
What day is this? Wednesday
It's a question, so it probably starts what or when. That's a good start. There's never just one way to get to the answer.
6 minutes. That contraction and I went round and round for 5. LOL!
Did you Guess Who it was? =)
Yes, I did.
I struggled with this one but it came together with one word. I spent way too much time on the contraction before I moved on to a different strategy.
Sinatra said it best.

Interesting one today. Not a time to be proud of. However, fun was had.
I was very slow when I first started doing the cryptograms. I figured they meant you had one foot in the crypt.
But now I rarely spend more than 5 min and usually under 4. Today’s was 3. I do think I have reconnected some old brain cells.
I hope you come to enjoy them as much as I do. Best part of my morning ;)
5 minutes
Try the helper in the link upthread
Easy to make changes and you don’t have to mess with pencil and paper.
Start with the obvious things like one letter words, same two letters together, two letter words and words with apostrophes.
I didn’t think I could do them either but the helper makes it a snap.
Took longer today, about 5 - kept misplacing “the” - nice puzzle!
