I know a woman who had out of control diabetes. She took 2 medications plus insulin and was still not regulating. She did the high fat, high protein diet and was able to slowly come off all medications. She did find that she could eat no pork.
She’s been good for over a year now.
You’re going to cite other ‘studies’ to reinforce your own bias? And without references, of course, right? Why are you ignoring the other studies which show that keto is demonstrably-harmful?
There is scientific merit in this study to be balanced with others which throw water on the so-called ‘keto fire’. Keto is Atkins redux, plain & simple. The long term effects thereof will, ultimately, destroy the myth forever, but not before millions are potentially irreparably-harmed.
Keto has been around for a century and staff doctors in a hospital setting had trouble keeping their epileptic child patients in ketosis; what makes you think you can do better? The psychological feedback of a scale swing, ignoring other factors? The fact is that most people who engage keto are incredibly-hypocritical, failing to address other causes of inflammation.
If a person engages keto for the purpose of weight loss, they lost the battle for health before they began. Period.
Fool’s errand, likely to express symptoms of impaired health and/or disease.
IMHO, after THOUSANDS of hours of writing & research, btw.
There is a difference between cutting excessive carbs and keto.
A BIG difference. HUGE. We’re talking GALACTIC.
There is a scientific reason not cited in the article or the paper regarding why those engaging extreme low-carb diets such as keto exhibit symptoms of impaired health.
I’m not giving the answer for free, but I hope that you have found balance, because by engaging a restrictive diet for 2 decades could prove irreparably-harmful in the end.
I do not suggest promoting what you’re doing as ‘low carb’ and - in the sense of the article and the paper - promoting keto/paleo/atkins without citing EXACTLY what you’re doing.
Interesting. Weak conclusion. Confusing. Low carbs means high electrolytes and health. Afib is genetic and easily managed by kepo diet.
Cutting carbs should help with diabetes if one is eating healthy natural non-carbs. However, if you are being treated for diabetes you should coordinate with your doctor if you are on medication as changing your diet radically will also change the amount of medication needed. If your doctor is not sympathetic to this find one who is both knowledgeable about carbs and nutrition as well as medication management with diabetes. If neither of those options is available, then very slow gradual change in diet might be the way to go.
Personally, after my husband died at home after a long illness, I was at least 40 pounds overweight and had only lost 10 pounds after counting calories and restricting food somewhat for a year. I happened upon Dr. Atkins and his low carb diet method. I began following the induction phase of his diet, and in 4 months had lost another 18 pounds. After that the loss slowed down and at 8 pounds above what I considered my ideal pre pregnancy weight I stopped paying much attention to carbs. After several years I have crept back up to about 20 lbs above my ideal weight, and at 80 years, I figure that is probably my stable weight. Two years ago I had a case of salmonella and lost 5 lbs. in less than a week, so I suspect a little extra weight gives me a cushion in case of illness, and I am fully active and otherwise healthy. I mostly eat low carb veggies, some meat and dairy, some whole grain carbs, a little fresh fruit, occasional sweet treats, and many supplements. I eat organic and raw food frequently. I have an annual checkup and blood work.
“There is a scientific reason not cited in the article or the paper regarding why those engaging extreme low-carb diets such as keto exhibit symptoms of impaired health.
Im not giving the answer for free...”
Get bent. I ain’t paying you for it.
No: The sick joke is your hysterical defense of a desperate overreach of people seeking solutions to bad behavior.
Free advice: If you’re on keto as it’s outlined, stop immediately and adopt a low protein, high vegetable diet. The average non-athletic male under 200lbs only needs a 1/4 pound of protein per day to maintain.
Fiber is key for reasons I’m not going to elaborate. Organic veggies, drop the non-organic wheat, but not grains entirely. And by God stop eating restaurant food.
Or don’t and show us your pom-poms for keto (and all the references backing up your statements).
We already know that yo-yo dieting puts a strain on the heart so this is plausible, but the focus is on the weight loss not the cutting out carbs.
More junk science.
I love the smell of vegetarian BS in the morning.
Ben Dover, not bebaw.
I wasn’t asking for money JA. I don’t have the time to preach to those who won’t F$*#%NG listen anyway. Do you know what ‘metaphor’ means?
Enjoy your heart attack, troll. You respond just like a lib.
Regarding dog and cat food, you have to remember that wolves and wild cats heat whole animals including stomachs and intestines. Therefore, the kinds of food the animals were eating become part of their nutritional needs. What do deer, antelope and bison eat; what do rabbits, birds, and mice eat. Often it is grains, grass and seeds.
“I dont have the time to preach to those who wont F$*#%NG listen anyway.”
Good. You have nothing useful to say anyway. Bye bye.
Yep.
Well i have special knowledge of the prey animals. they are grazers and designed to extract the max nutrients out,of low energy foods like grass hays and often have guts more like cows and other ruminants to do so. but they have been designed to work best on this type of food intake. their guts are more delicate than humans/ominvores straight shot through difestive systems.
Oh I get what youre saying PA Engineer. Somebodys ox is being gored alright. Follow the money its alwys about the money no doubt.
It just amazes me how hateful some folks are about this. I eat one meal a day and pretty much fast the rest of the time, One has to make sure though that you get enough calories, but I manage with 2 BPCs per day, which contains half a stick of butter! Even my fellow keto tribe peeps thinks thats a bit extreme, but, I am NEVER hungry. I am a thin woman again and pretty darn proud of it. But thats secondary. My body thanks me, my health is awesome.
