Government Warns Of Historic, Widespread Flooding “Through May” – Food Prices To Skyrocket As 1000s Of Farms Are Destroyed

We have never seen catastrophic flooding like this, and the NOAA is now telling us that there will be more major flooding for at least two more months. On Thursday, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration warned that “historic, widespread flooding” would “continue through May”. More than 90 percent of the upper Midwest and Great Plains is currently covered by an average of 10.7 inches of snow, and all of that snow is starting to melt. That means that we are going to transition from one of the worst winters in modern history to a flood season that has already taken an apocalyptic turn for farmers all across America.

At this moment, millions of acres of farmland are already underwater. Thousands of farmers are not going to be able to plant crops this year, and thousands of other farmers that have been financially ruined by the floods will never return to farming again. This is already the worst agricultural disaster in modern American history, and it is going to get a whole lot worse.

From the article:

“...I am troubled by the fact that most Americans don’t seem to understand the gravity of what we are facing.

Millions of bushels of wheat, corn and soybeans have been destroyed by flood waters, hundreds of millions of dollars worth of livestock have been lost, and all of us will soon be feeling a lot more pain at the grocery store.

And this would be a complete and utter national nightmare even if the flooding was all over, but the NOAA just told us that we should expect more catastrophic flooding for the next two months…”

Paul Krugman, who hates the farmers who provide the food he eats, should have to do without food for a month or two so he would be more appreciative of rural America.

One inch of rain is equal to ten inches of snow. I don’t understand the need to be warned of historic flooding unless the man behind the curtain is going to fire up the weather machine and make it rain for the next two months.

“We have never seen catastrophic flooding like this...”

Anytime a writer uses such overwrought hyperbole whatever the author says is suspect.

“hundreds of millions of dollars worth of livestock have been lost, and all of us will soon be feeling a lot more pain at the grocery store.”

Just as beef has come down from the ridiculous prices of the past few years.

Just read the article. The author isn’t overstating the enormity of this disaster at all.

“Historic!” Does this mean we might not make it to AOC’s “Doomsday” in 12 years?

I wonder if this 27-year-old millenial author ever heard of the Dust Bowl?

I don't know that they're 27, but what difference, at this point, does it make?

I’ll bet there was a lot of catastrophic flooding back before the Army Corps of Engineers built a lot of the flood control mechanisms we have in place now.

"As prices plummeted last year amid the ongoing trade fight, growers, faced with selling crops at a loss, stuffed a historic volume of grain into winding plastic tubes and steel bins. Some cash-strapped families piled crops inside their barns or outside on the ground."

I wonder if now they regret not selling that grain. It's a double loss now.

This is an author who specializes in doom laden scenarios, it is how he makes a living and it is what he is known for.

Not meant in any way to minimize the plight of people suffering from flooding, but as long as there is water and contoured earth, there will be flooding.
