Todays Cryptogram
KTGXTH LYH LYDBJX CAT MAPH VADBJ, ZBV LYHB VA LYHS XA OHMM LYZL KHAKMH WZBL LZQH LYHDG HCHX ANN CAT. SZCZ ZBJHMAT
You can find this little fun word game, to combat early dementia and senility in us baby boomers, in several daily publications, unfortunately they are copyrighted so we can't use them here. So, we're just going to make up our own.
The way it works is a letter stands for another letter.
For example: AXYDLBAAXR is LONGFELLOW (does not apply to today's cryptogram).
Beware, the game is very addictive. If this is your first time, don't be intimidated.
PLEASE DO NOT post the answer in general comments, but DO post your time and any tips you might give the group on how you solve these puzzles. Puzzle solvers love to hear if you found the CG challenging or easy.
You can certainly send your solution to my private reply, or if you need a hint for todays Cryptogram.
Solving the puzzle under 8 minutes is good, under 6 very good, under 4 excellent and under 2 "you're a pro!"
Those of you looking for an added challenge can try to solve one sentence or even one word at a time, i.e. solve the entire first line, then go to the second line etc.
If you need a little help you can copy the cryptogram and paste it to Hals Helper below:
You can then work on the puzzle without using pen and paper.
PLEASE JOIN OUR FUN AND LIVELY PING LIST (currently at 63!)
Solution to our last puzzle:
YOU KNOW YOURE OLD WHEN YOU NOTICE HOW YOUNG THE DERELICTS ARE GETTING. JEANNE PHILLIPS
Another puzzle from the Arkansas Gazette.
Nailed it!
Tips for beginners:
E is the most common letter in English. It may not be the most common in the particular puzzle that you are trying to solve, but it probably occurs several times in a sentence consisting of twenty words.
THE is a very common word, appearing in almost every sentence. So look at three-letter words and experiment to see if you assign the values THE to the letters of a three-letter word, will they make sense in other words in the puzzle? TH is a common beginning of words, so if you assign THE to a three-letter word and that results in other words starting with TH in the puzzle, you might have a solution.
Contractions are great places for starting. A word such as ABC’D probably ends in T or S. Such as CAN’T, WON’T, ISN’T, or possessives, such as ONE’S, MAN’s, etc.
Please add me to the Ping List, thanks!
Yesterday’s puzzle....I saw what the first and third word had to be immediately. The rest followed quite nicely. <^..^>
Zipped through in 2 minutes. It’s funny, sometimes you just get one word at a time, and the rest fill in on their own. I started with the first name (Rene? Dana? No?) and then the contraction.
Holy crap. About 1 min.
2.5 minutes today. Started with most common letter and contractions.
It took me almost 5 minutes. Dang, y’all are good!
Funny...today zipped right through, yesterday had about 6 ‘false starts’ and didn’t go back.
Once yoU find a key letter, yoU will (or shoUld) breeze right throUght it....

5 min.
Contraction and common little words.
Fun way to wake up the little gray cells.
On a roll...! Two sub 2 min. days in a row.
I enjoy doing these every day - thanks for posting them !
Please add me to the ping list.
Hey, Rocky, thank you for those tips! A lot of people don’t want to do these, cause they don’t know where to start.
I agree, when you can’t get a puzzle started...Go to the Hal Helper and start with the most frequent letter, and assign “E” or “T” to it.
EVERYBODY is getting this one, quickly.
That was fun. Thank you
In the spirit of giving, here is one for you. Should be easy. The numbers are the actual numbers.
