Yesterday I measured my blood glucose when I was experiencing ravenous thirst. I would drink a quart of water, then on the last gulp, experience an intense thirst. I knew something was wrong.
I measured on the meter and it said "HIGH, OVER 600 mg/dL". It was too high for the meter.
I took 40 units of long-acting insulin and 50 units of a sliding-scale immediate-acting insulin, and in 4 hours I was at 460 mg/dL b/g. Based on how insulin is processed in my body, I extrapolate that at one point I was at 1,100 mg/dL b/g.
I felt death close by me.
I am so concerned about a thug or a government killing me, but the reality is I will die from disease. All my guns won't protect me from diabetes.
My doctor told me that washing down my BP meds with my usual 4 cups of coffee was probably counterproductive.
This turned out to be true.
I’m hovering in the 140/90 range now.
Next on the quit list: cheese.
Has Laz checked in at all? Ive read the whole thread ..I think..so might have missed if he had, but I didnt see it. Hope hes ok. (Ill let you get back to your blogging. Hahaha)
He’s in New Zealand trying to correct the CGI code
that caused the spent brass to disappear in mid-air.
Because the clever folks trying to trick us just sort of quit working on the ejected brass.
They haz a stupid and Laz... he gonna fix it.
As my doc says on paper, Im perfect. My blood lipids are great, my weight is well within normal yet my BP shot up about 3 years ago. During the months I tried managing it without meds I felt awful: headaches and nausea. I still have kids at home, my youngest is in kindergarten, they need their mom around. A low dose of lisinopril has made a huge difference.
My grandpa was the first person in his family to live past age 60, without modern meds his parents, aunts and uncles died of cardiovascular issues rather young. None were over weight nor inactive. Unfortunate genetics, but he lived to age 92 and his younger siblings have done similarly.
I used to strive for a more natural approach to health, but had an epiphany about 5 years ago. Without modern medicine, our oldest would probably have died by now due to his severe asthma. Our fifth child and I would most certainly have died during his delivery. We live in a a fallen world, yet God has blessed men with intellect and ability to overcome some of our frailties. I no longer eschew medications that can help serious serious medical conditions.
Why does that happen? Does it mean your insulin is too low and it somehow keeps you from retaining the water?
No, buddy, no. Do what you have to and get this stopped. Why? Were you under stress? What was wrong? Prayers up for you, my man.
Get it fixed Laz!
I’m fighting that dragon too...
Ive always pictured you dying at the ripe old age of 98 - shot in the back by a jealous husband...
Yes. if this was not a one off, have a talk with your Dr. about an insulin pump. It will keep these types of incidents from happening.
Yeah, the booze turns into sugar, even the unsweet kinds, I think. It does something in the pancreas. Youre gonna have to start smoking weed. Oh wait, that makes you hungry. Well, youll have to find another vice.
It pulls the sugar out.
This happened to me on a sales trip.
My sugar got to 500 and I was having trouble reading Interstate highway signs.
Got back home and saw my dr. Insulin saved my life.
The unquenchable thirst is caused by elevated blood sugar.
Before I was discovered to be an uncontrolled type 2 diabetic, I would drink an entire gallon of milk every day, and an entire 2 liter of soft drink, and water and all the ice in those drinks, and still be so thirsty that I could drink it all again, no problem, and still be thirsty.
The kidneys are constantly producing urine in an attempt to rid the body of the toxic sugar, which they cannot do, and on top of that is all the liquids I’m drinking to try and quench the thirst.
As soon as my blood sugar was brought under control, all of these symptoms immediately ceased.
My guess is, with numbers that high, action had to be taken.
He can’t walk around like that, those are lethal numbers.
Dunno for sure, just a guess.
Dr. Eric Byrd on YouTube presents interesting info.
Mike was 5’9”, about 165 pounds, age 54. His BP generally was about 240/180. Now he takes his meds.
Find out how to process a sheep’s pancreas for insulin?
Damn, bro, get some help with this ASAP!
Extreme constant thirst is a strong indication of diabetes. Diabetes can also be ab indicator of prostate cancer; especially if you are having to urinate way too often and the flow isn’t very good.
Best to get a PSA check, a DRE and a biopsy ASAP.
