Many Californians are gearing up to spring their clocks forward for daylight saving time this Sunday but a ballot measure passed in November could make this time switch the states last.
Proposition 7, approved by 60 percent of voters in November and sponsored by Assemblyman Kansen Chu, D- San Jose, repealed the 1949 initiative that started daylight saving time in California. The proposition also allows for state Legislature to adjust the states daylight saving time, whether it be by a couple days or all year.
If signed by the governor, the bill will bring California closer to abolishing the outdated practice of switching our clocks in the fall and spring, Chu told The Sacramento Bee in June.
But the change isnt permanent yet. Two things are required before Californians can do away with daylight saving time altogether: a bill to pass the state Legislature and to obtain federal authorization through a majority vote in Congress, according to Annie Pham, a member of Chus staff.

Not sure that I completely agree with you. Having lived in Southern California for a while, it does suck to have the early sunsets in the winter while on Standard Time (they’re fairly east in that time zone)...so I can’t blame them for wanting to end that.
Good one. And don’t sell AOC short in the stupidity department. Trains going across the oceans is pretty lame-—and she probably wasn’t smart enough to even make that up for the plan—and never dreamed it was impossible.
AOC: What kind of fool do you take me for?
Our answer: First class.
My cat wouldn’t mind. Any excuse to eat earlier. :P
A few years ago when they debated Daylight Savings Time people said the extra sunlight would burn the grass on their lawns.
That was in my state MI. No wonder they voted for a Dem in favor of unlimited baby murder (”abortion”) —the new governor Whitmer. First big plan from her mouth: 45 cents a gallon gas tax increase to go with the one 2 or 3 years ago that never really fixed the roads. Smart./s
Great comments (see my tagline). Please send me any of your posts from now on. Thanks.
Did you ever hear what the author of self help and Christian books Zig Ziglar said about his wife?
“My wife is a redhead. Not just a redhead, a decided redhead. One day she went into the beauty shop and told them I have decided to become a redhead.”
my relatives are filipino, they are never on time.
“”Commie dimwits. And that includes Rubio in the Senate. “”
Did Rubio move to CA?
“”So adjacent non DST Arizona will be a permanently 2 hours time difference from California. ( do I have that right?)””
I never could keep it straight. When talking to relatives in AZ and I’d ask - what time do you have, their answer would always be “we don’t change time here.” That told me a heck of a lot...Just tell me the time!!
It wouldn’t cause that much confusion. Arizona does the same thing.
You didn’t read the article, but decided to post and look dumb anyway.
Good democrats/liberals/progressives love throwing insults at well meaning people.
In CA we’re screwed no matter what we’re told to do.

Yes, Extra Saturday Time is required because of Friday nights. I should have pointed that out. But it is all good. Breakfast is served until 2 p.m. on Saturday at lots of restaurants.
You won’t have to feel butt hurt when you opine from knowledge.
I know it’s a reach, but you gotta give it a shot.
I knew Arizona was different but I didn’t know which way
and I’m sure you immediately figured that out that
is what I was asking. I prefer DST but not if it
puts us 2 hrs different than a neighbor that is
already established. But it would be just like
the liberals to railroad their way in w/ a crap
trick to increase the hatred of others of this
state. Thanks.
You’re probably speaking to someone who is the age of your grandmother so you should be careful with your language. Just give it a shot!
Yes, you’re right.
My language was entirely inappropriate and I offer my apology.
Thank you - from one former Californian to another.
