SALT LAKE CITY, Utah A Utah couple said they're in love, but they're first cousins and it's illegal for them to marry in their home state.
Michael Lee and his wife Angie tied the knot in Colorado where it is legal to marry.
The couple said their love story began with a crush in second grade.
"It's like second grade ,I remember, I stopped her mother-- I stopped her-- I said I'm going to marry Angie, and she said 'no I'm sorry you can't but you can be friends,'" Lee told KTVX.
Family vacations would bring the two together, but social norms would draw them apart again.
Michael said, "Life was unfair. Like why did the person I want to be with the most ... Why did you have to be my cousin?"
The couple reunited after 10 years this winter. They both recently became single and were ready to take the plunge.
"We're like, okay this is crazy, but we're adults now, we're single now, we're just going to go for it... who cares what our family thinks," Angie said.

>>>Indeed, Genesis has cousins marrying each other all over the place.
Yes, kind of hard to avoid when you only have 8 people from the same family alive after the flood.
My wife and I are something like 11th cousins, common ancestor is Rev. John Crandall, a contemporary of Roger Williams, the founder of Rhode Island.
I haven't calculated, but I think that would give us about as much common DNA as Elizabeth Warren has Native American blood.
Actually WV doesn’t allow first cousin marriage and “progressive” Vermont does. A trip would be a whole lot cheaper than the legal costs.
If the same set of Supreme Court judges that approved/demanded “same-sexs” marriage, were to not approve a petition from this 1st-counsins couple - who I am sure will make some of the same legal arguments as was made for “same-sex” marriage, they would rightly be branded as giant intellectual hypocrites.
It was always quite evident that the logic for approving “same-sex” marriage was going to produce an easy slide down the slippery slope of having to approve legal marriage for any two adult persons no matter what, even including siblings and parent-child relationships, and multiple spouse marriages.
Just sayin' for the younger of our readers.
God made no prohibitions on marriage to relatives until much later.
Well Greg and Marcia weren’t really Brother and Sister.
>> They might have more luck in AR, KY, TN, or WV
Bite your tongue, sir. Bite your tongue. We know what you’re thinking.
(”A virgin? Virgin? Hell, boy - if she ain’t good enough fer her kinfolk, she ain’t good enuff fer ours.”)
If they were both men would it be legal since they can’t have babies?

Hickenlooper is for incest.
Well they can move to GA. Its legal here.
Yep - there’s a reason tribes would seek mates from other tribes...used to hunt in the foothills of southern NY (around Angelica) and met some of the locals who stayed withing some close family ties for mates....reminded me of poor British Royalty...
Like the hillbillies said to one of their own when he said he was getting married and the girl was a virgin to boot, “Boy, if’n she ain’t good ‘nuff fer her own kin, she caint be good ‘nuff for you.”
And look how well consanguinity is working out for the inbred royals and Arabs of today.
Well Greg and Marcia werent really Brother and Sister.
