The young Archduchess of Austria is set to wed her Belgian racing driver boyfriend, it has been reported.
Eleonore von Habsburg, whose full title is Archduchess of Austria, Royal Princess of Hungary, Bohemia and Croatia, is set to tie the knot with Formula E racer Jérôme d’Ambrosio, according to Royal Central.
While the betrothal has not yet been confirmed by Austria's royal court, the mother of the bride took to Instagram on Tuesday to heap praise on the couple for 'embarking on a lifetime commitment' as she posted pictures from inside the lavish engagement party.
Born in Salzburg, the glamorous model and socialite, 25, is the daughter of Archduke Karl von Habsburg - head of the House of Habsburg-Lorraine and a leading politician - and his estranged wife, Baroness Francesca von Habsburg.

She is a direct descendant of the last Habsburg Emperor Charles I. Franz-Joseph would be rolling in his grave seeing a Hapsburg Archduchess marrying a commoner.

Right. Franz-Joseph was utterly opposed to Franz Ferdinand's marriage to a Czech woman from the minor nobility--not a suitable match for a Habsburg!
Kaiser Karl died in 1922. His widow, the Empress Zita, outlived him by 67 years and died in 1989.

I think the law was that they had to marry a member of a sovereign, or a formerly sovereign, house, or their children could not succeed to the throne.
Ordinary nobles weren't good enough.
