New Traffic Laws in CA Driving in CA is more expensive for people who do CA stops at signs, among other violations. Special reminder: California's new traffic fine rules were released on January 1, 2019: • Forgot to carry your driver's license $214 • Forgot to change the address (more than ten days) $214 • Uninsured car in an accident $796 and Driver's license revoked for 4 years. •Failed to stop at red light or turning right at No Turn on Red $533 • Crossing a double yellow line $425. • Violation of the turn or U-turn $284. • Speeding 1-15 miles $224 16-25 miles $338 • Stop Sign but failed to stop $284 • Pass the flashing light of a school bus $675 • Talking on cell phone 1st time $76, 2nd time $190, same penalty even if you are just holding it in your hand • Not wearing a seat belt $160 • Stopped at a bus stop $976 • Driving with high beam light (from 30 points) $382 • Child did not wear a seat belt or in a child’s seat $436 • Tinted windows $178 • Driving with headphones $178 • Modified Exhaust $1000 EACH stop.
All of the above violations allow for you to go to traffic school for 8 hours. If you get a 2nd ticket within 18 months, no traffic school, you must pay the penalty, points go on your driving record, and your insurance rates will rise. You might want to review these with the drivers in your household to prevent any surprises.

Why can motorcycles get away with super loud exhausts they ticket cars and trucks for?
Seems if being too loud is the reason, it shouldn’t matter what vehicle type it is being too loud. Its just favoritism or hypocrisy.

You can evaluate the economic desperation of a given area by both the cost of, and ease with which traffic tickets are handed out.
These laws place California’s economic desperation higher than that of many long-dead small towns out in the country. All IMO of course.

Failing to “use a turn signal.” So Cal? I accept. My response is to say I notice a big difference San Francisco and Los Angeles drivers. LA drivers are much smoother with speeds and more polite with the directionals.
Laws: Last month I got pulled over for crossing a solid white line on a side street. I asked the lady CHP officer if she was serious. She said, “Yes. Read the DMV handbook.” I smiled and said, “Well, I’ve gotten aways with breaking many speeding laws and I’ll take the hit for this silly one.” $300. Painful.
Good laws:
Must use windshield wipers and headlights at the same time.
Must not use phone while driving. Seems like 75% drivers are on the phone.
Must have non-insured motorist insurance.
Speeding 16-25 miles over the limit.
Stupid laws:
Forgot to change the address.
Speeding 1-15 miles over the limit.
In LA the past chief decided to not apply the impound d laws to illegals because it was “unfair.” Unequal enforcement of the law.
