7-Year-Old Boy Dies After Parents Punish Him For Forgetting Bible Verses

Timothy Hauschultz punished his 7-year-old son for forgetting 13 Bible verses by forcing him to undergo manual labor in the winter while his teenage son beat him.

When seven-year-old Ethan Hauschultz died last April from hypothermia and blunt force trauma to the head, chest, and abdomen, authorities had some pressing questions.

The nearly year-long investigation into the young Wisconsin boy’s suspicious cause of death has now been traced back to his court-appointed parents, Timothy and Tina Hauschultz, and their 15-year-old son, Damian.

According to FOX 11, Ethan was ordered to haul a 44-pound log for two hours per day for a one-week period. Tragically, the cause of Ethan’s punishment was for “not knowing 13 Bible verses to Timothy’s satisfaction.”

The reckless behavior of the two adults, alongside their teenage son, has now officially been found to be criminal. All three are expected to make their first court appearances in Manitowoc County court today.

Timothy is charged with felony murder and felony contributing to the delinquency of a child, and four other charges. Tina is charged with failing to prevent bodily harm and intentionally contributing to the delinquency of a child, while their son Damian is charged with first-degree reckless homicide, and six additional charges.

Damian told police that his father picked out the logs for Ethan and that he was ordered by his father to make sure the boy completed his daily punishment. Though Damian is not yet of age, juveniles in Wisconsin charged with certain homicides are processed in adult court.

“Ethan had been performing punishment ordered by Timothy which required Ethan to carry a heavy wooden log, weighing approximately two-thirds his body weight, while being monitored by Timothy’s 15-year-old son,” the Manitowoc County Sheriff’s Office said.

While it would seem as though Damian, only a 15-year-old child himself, could’ve been coerced into the dangerous, negligent behavior of his, investigators found evidence to the contrary.

The teenager allegedly kicked and struck Ethan around 100 times, sometimes using a stick or belt. He even stood on the boy’s chest while his face was in a puddle, and buried him in snow for more than 20 minutes without a coat or boots on. This would explain the signs of blunt force trauma on the boy’s body, with hypothermia being the ultimate cause of death.

Damian told police that he “didn’t do anything that would have hurt” Ethan, yet admitted to the above series of events and described covering Ethan “in his own little coffin of snow.”

Timothy, meanwhile, explained to investigators that carrying the heavy log was meant to instill discipline. He also said that he wasn’t home when Ethan died. Damian allegedly called his father several times when he realized Ethan was no longer moving.

Tina has yet to make any substantial statements in this case, with Monday’s court hearing likely to clarify her role in the matter. One of Ethan’s siblings told police that she was well aware of Timothy’s grueling punishment methods — which certainly substantiates charges alleging failure of preventing bodily harm and intentionally contributing to the delinquency of a child.

After learning about the tragic death of Ethan Hauschultz, read about the parents who starved their son to death as part of a 40-day religious fast. Then, learn about a sick Minnesota boy who died when his parents chose prayer over medical attention.

Sorry to be the one to tell you but the story isn’t about the media, it is about a tortured, dead child.

See if you can work up half as much concern about that as you do about your sterling shining soul, you creep.

How hard did the media work to find this horror story? They could find dozens of equivalents and worse from Muslims?

...

It’s a really bad title. There are other stories with accurate titles the OP could have used.

There’s quite few FReepers who like to post garbage and other liberal propaganda.

Have we become cowards to getting involved...

You can't use "we". Some would turn a blind eye. Speaking only for myself, I would get quickly and severely involved had I witnessed such abuse.

My impression, from their choosing a name with pop culture demonic connotation for their biological son,

These are “court-appointed” parents. There’s a story here somewhere as well.

If this isn't just an example of media playing up red meat for Christian hate,

Horrific as this is, the MSM will glom onto any story like this at warp speed to disparage Christianity.

The bigger tragedy is that the Enemy’s spawn like this just hand them the material on a silver platter.

Dear Lord, what that poor kid went through and his biological family.

There is no knowing why he was removed from them, but knowing the foster care system, it was probably for no good reason. DSS tends to ignore the real abuse cases and go after regular peoplewho are no danger.

I know when we homeschooled, the parents were very conscious of what we did as the DSS was known for targeting homeschoolers for no other reason than homeschooling.

My mistake. I see Damian was their biological son.

It’s a very disturbing thing, that poor little boy. Carrying a heavy log around? Cross to bear?

I just see too much odd symbolism, there is something wrong here above and beyond murdering him. 13 bible verses? Why that freighted number? Damien, for crying out loud?

I’m honestly getting the sense that the foster parents are trying to blame Christianity for their actions, but other indications are that they’re anything but Christian.

Something’s not right with the story.

Hopefully this teenager is tried as an adult - all three of them belong in prison for the rest of their lives.

Were they attacking and punishing that boy for being Christian?

Somewhere along the line, the Left has made it a crime to be “judgemental” about others, and has deemed that shame is never justified (unless you are a conservative).

We should damn well be judgemental, and shame should be in our societal toolbox as well.

Yeah, it’s weird all around. You’re right about the Satanic connection with little things like that.

The guy is just pure evil but I wonder what’s wrong with that woman.

I never met Christians parents who assigned Bible verses to their kids for memorization and then punished them for not doing it.

We all taught our kids the Bible and Scripture and their minds absorb just fine by hearing over and over. Forced memorization regimes are not necessary. Regularly reading the word will do it.

FWIW, my kids memorized a lot of Scripture, but we NEVER forced it.

I spent two years in a private school run by Baptists and we did do rote memorization of certain verses but we read the Bible through many times over the course of those two years so things with Biblical connotation just jump right out when you encounter them, it might not be word for word but you recognize it. I hated it then, and have issues to this day with certain types of Baptist, but it’s done right for me in life. There’s something else going on with the murder of this poor boy.

From reading the Fox 11 story that was linked, it seems there were three children that were “appointed”, including Ethan’s 7-year-old twin (whom I hope has been moved again). The 15-year-old son was given the responsibility of overseeing the punishment and was too aggressive in his administering it.

Of course, the media is going to latch onto the Bible verse angle but that’s not the issue. The father was negligent in allowing the 15-year-old to beat the 7-year-old regardless of what he was being disciplined over.

Mom, in the photo, looks heavily sedated and I have to wonder why *she* allowed this sort of abuse. Couldn’t she look out the window and see the punishment was excessive?
