Don Rickles was a great roaster.
Had terrible luck with TV series though.
They wouldn’t let him be nasty on the TV series and that’s what he was great at.
Today the under 40 audience would leave crying, snowflake babies they are.

Saw Rickles at a small club in Upstate NY....the guy was more like a wonderful, gentle grandfather than a jokester....a real sweetheart!

A complete act. Dean always had Apple juice back stage to give the appearance of bourbon. Frank Sinatra was asked this question about his friend Dean Martin during an interview, Frank said “I’ve spilled more booze by accident than Dean has drank over the years”.
