Throughout the 2016 campaign and since, the president and his party have vowed to kick-start tepid Obama-era economic growth. New government data show that Trump, too, has failed to reach the 3 percent promised land, according to one major metric. The Commerce Departments Bureau of Economic Analysis measured 2018 growth at 2.9 percent, matching the peak Obama enjoyed in 2015. For the rest of the presidents term, economic forecasters agree, that number will decline.

I looked at the article again, but this time noticed the note at the bottom saying the numbers are wrong. Also peak the Obama "enjoyed" followed a quarter of negative economic growth. Going from negative to positive economic growth overstates the growth in the following quarter and distorts that annual average. Still, the article appears to me to be unchanged, as does the headline, even thought they know the main premise is wrong. To me, it's still a blatant case of fake news.
that’s funny. Another article said the 2.9 was only in the last three months of 2018. This article says all of 2018. I think this article lies.
Yes, it did - in the real world inhabited by non-leftist non-journalists - except for the sabotage by the Fed.
Hassett explained on Varney’s show today that the growth was 2.9% 4th quarter over 4th quarter, but 3.0%—or was it 3.1%?—on a year over year basis.
And that he media of course were choosing to run with the lower number.
