Todays Cryptogram
OEG AKGNJ KAFONOG
GQGDVOEALI. VXP ENQG
OX YG ODPG OX OENO XD
VXPDG KGNK. KNQAK RVLFE
You can find this little fun word game, to combat early dementia and senility in us baby boomers, in several daily publications, unfortunately they are copyrighted so we can't use them here. So, we're just going to make up our own. The way it works is a letter stands for another letter. For example: AXYDLBAAXR is LONGFELLOW (does not apply to today's cryptogram). Beware, the game is very addictive. If this is your first time, don't be intimidated.
PLEASE DO NOT post the answer in general comments, but DO post your time and any tips you might give the group on how you solve these puzzles. Puzzle solvers love to hear if you found the CG challenging or easy.
You can certainly send your solution to my private reply, or if you need a hint for todays Cryptogram.
Solving the puzzle under 8 minutes is good, under 6 very good, under 4 excellent and under two "you're a pro!"
Those of you looking for an added challenge can try to solve one sentence or even one word at a time, i.e. solve the entire first line, then go to the second line etc.
If you need a little help you can copy the cryptogram and paste it to Hals Helper below:
You can then work on the puzzle without using pen and paper.
Solution to our last puzzle:
TRUE COMPASSION IS MORE THAN FLINGING A COIN AT A BEGGAR. MARTIN LUTHER KING JR.
Good morning. Got it. Thanks.
For some reason this one was simple...just over 1 min.
About 4 minutes, I got hung up on the author’s name...
Two minutes. Contraction power! I feel like I’m getting very good at this!
2 minutes!!!!!????? Wow!!!!
Another puzzle from the Arkansas Gazette. This means you solved the National Cryptoquote. That’s special!
2 min the car.
My seemingly fastest yet...got the first word before Hal realized who was playing and that almost did the ‘long’ word.....wasn’t entirely sure on author last name but it is getting good ‘use’ in Virginia these days....
Yes, contractions are often key for me to. A quickie.
The fourth word has become very easy to recognize, and it confirms or eliminates suspicions for the 2 and 3 letter words.
I forgot to time. I’d guess 5 or 6 min. Fairly easy for an odd quote and unfamiliar author. Yesterday I guessed the author immediately and sailed through in a couple of minutes.
Thanks again for starting this thread and keeping it going.
Very enjoyable!
