11 qualities in men that women find attractive
Business Insider ^ | Rebecca Harrington, Tech Insider

Be honest, straight men: You all want to know what women want. Luckily, a bunch of scientists have wondered the same thing.

These types of studies are often small, and frequently rely on self-reported feelings in a lab, which may be different from how women truly react in real life. And the participants are often Western college students, who are not an especially a diverse group. So take the results with a grain of salt.

But hey, whatever helps, right?

Here are 11 science-supported traits that women find irresistible.

1. Good looks can be a factor, but they're not as important as you may think. In studies, women typically choose better-looking guys for flings, not long-term relationships.

2. A sense of humor is important to women. Scientists have found it makes men seem more intelligent.

3. For long relationships, women tend to prefer altruistic men who are kind and do good deeds.

4. In studies, women choose men posing in front of expensive cars or apartments, versus ordinary ones, possibly because they make the men appear rich.

5. Women may like older men because they've had time to accumulate more resources.

6. Facial hair has been an attraction and a repellent in studies, so that feature is likely based on preference. Do what you want with your face; you'll attract the right mate.

7. Older research concluded that people liked when other people liked them, but recent studies have found that "playing hard to get" could be an effective tactic. When men are unavailable, that might make women want them more.

8. Small studies have indicated that men with dogs do better with the ladies.

9. In one speed-dating experiment, women were more attracted to men who were mindful — present, attentive, and nonjudgmental.

Responding to your post 76..

I have a non-testable theory as to why there seems to be a lot of “women-hating” posts on FR threads such as this.

First and foremost; I am divorced, became a single father and now am happily re-married (my sons look up to her and she is a good role model for them!). Oh man, did I revel in the FR divorce threads that popped up from time to time. Breathe of fresh air in my book at the time and echoed what I was thinking and feeling.

That was then. These days I think because men and women are just different thinkers; women tend to form a support group for their divorcing friend/family member. I say that purely from my observation only and with no plus/minus thoughts about it. As well, I observed that men tend to not want to hear about divorces or relationship problems from other men. Its kind of “you got yourself in; get yourself out” persona. Oh, sure, your buddies will help ya here and there but when out and about; don’t waste a guys time making him listen to divorce issues. He aint interested the UMPTEENTH time you bring it up and beyond a divorce; talking about home issues just becomes an echo chamber; neither really is interested in it.

So, my theory is the threads can tend to get nasty because its an outlet for the guys posting (hell, I posted on those threads way back). I doubt its actual woman hating as it is broadly tired of PC bullshit in and out of the workplace and these threads are an outlet for dudes that either could not get over getting their asses kicked in family court; had a work place problem with HR (real or otherwise); whatever. Don’t take it personal.

Think of it this way for a second. Us guys are being told all the time (either by HR at the workplace of the echo chamber articles here on FR) that we can’t pay you a compliment, shouldn’t hold the door open for you; shouldn’t treat you with chivalry; like we want to treat you. It’s around us 24x7. I’m not excusing anything here; just giving a window into what I have observed. We don’t know to shit or get off the pot when saying “You look amazing today” may cost us our jobs.

And BTW, I think that list is bullshit. It tries to discern a “group” and apply findings broadly instead of the individual which it can never do.

BTW, incels are virgins/involuntary celibate, anyone who was married would assume they consummated the marriage bed, thus your screed did not even fit your narrative.

I have two sons (One going to MIT) who I teach to avoid whores and save himself for marriage just like God intended. Problem is, females like you are not teaching their daughters or young ladies to save themselves for marriage. You seek to attach yourselves to materialistic needs instead of Spiritual commands.

Your lashing out is ignorant and embarrassing. Repeat, why don't females marry down? At least the patriarchy did that, now in this coming-of-age matriarchy, you are defending hypocrisy. Modern day females are taught to compete for comfort rather than please God. That is a road to ruin.

It becomes more evident as women get older and their sexual market value is rapidly declining.

"The Wall" spares no woman. Women age like milk, men age like wine. That's why all those 36 year old women ask "Where have all the good men gone"? Meanwhile, a 36 year old man that takes care of himself and has a good job can bed a 24 year old women.

I think that’s what I said. The moneyed male has a practical appeal. The hunky drunky funky loser is exciting. The former lasts — at least as long as the money does. The latter wears thin after a few romps and gets ghosted. But then she just moves on to another deadbeat who makes her tingle.

Generally, she’s sitting home on Saturday night!

Nah, I don't buy that. The hotties have their pick. They know it and it bores them. They're likely to try their charms on someone who's not so easily dazzled, but the last place they are on Saturday night is home watching Gilligan's Island.

Pray tell, how was that post of hers “lashing out”? What “screed”?

Seems to me she did not warrant your invective.

No kidding

Were imto have an affair it’d be with a married woman feeling neglected needing loving

Much safer.....unless her husband who ain’t tending to business is violent and jealous

Married women as girlfriends don’t talk or extort in general

I’ve got a friend 70 something....been in a weekly arrangement with a professional gal who’s husband doesn’t show her any loving

His wife put him out to pasture in his 50s

They meet weekly and sneak off for holidays once or twice a year

He loves it and she’s content with it that way

She’s fifty something now....

Former marine major..

He’s an hombre

I'd quit dating about ten years ago. I'd had it. Then one of the women I'd dated back when I was trying sent me a note: I know this is a long shot but are you married or in a relationship? I'm tired of dating these Nancy boys in Nashville and remember you were real.
Well, I told her I'd not had a date since we'd gone to an art gallery. We met up and been dating for over a year. Go figger. I'm still somewhat skeptical but so far its working out.

Women love a man for the bulge in his pants, the bigger the better. The bulge in his hip pocket, that is.

So, you're saying guys should carry large handguns in pocket holsters? I'm glad I'm married. This dating thing is so complicated.

This is a well-kept secret among women. I found it out at a job where I was one of the only guys (and much older than the female co-workers), so they considered me a piece of furniture and didn't realize I could hear them.

There's a difference between "Mr. Right" and "Mr. Right NOW!!"

Or, "Alpha SEX, Beta ¢he¢k$"

I don’t mind that the men here have their own discussions. I just wish we ladies would start our own threads. Why don’t we? Let them talk their stuff on their threads. We can talk on ours. Why haven’t we ever done that?

If I was a rich guy I would want a real woman, not a death camp survivor. Of money is going to buy me happiness I expect it to come wrapped in a beautiful, soft, cushy package I can snuggle up with.

Well did you really think that Melissa actually fell head over heels in love with Bill Gates?

Mexican standoff. I mean, after you've divorced Bill, who is going to ask you out? Who would be at your level that you'd say "yes" to him?

Female here. Sorry, gotta laugh at that line. lol :-)

men tend to not want to hear about divorces or relationship problems from other men.

My observations:

No one (man or woman) wants to hear anyone else (man or woman) drone on and on about a divorce.

Men (married, single, and divorced) are comfortable hanging out together, but not with a guy who talks the whole time about himself or his problems.

Married women tend to be friends with other married women. If one divorces, she may find herself suddenly left out, or she might begin to feel awkward around her married friends.

That’s one of those jokes that stick with you.
I heard it about guys on the beach trying to
impress chicks. Whoever thought it up was a genius.
