You can find this little fun word game, to combat early dementia and senility in us baby boomers, in several daily publications, unfortunately they are copyrighted so we can't use them here. So, we're just going to make up our own. The way it works is a letter stands for another letter. For example: AXYDLBAAXR is LONGFELLOW (does not apply to today's cryptogram). Beware, the game is very addictive. If this is your first time, don't be intimidated.
PLEASE DO NOT post the answer in general comments, but DO post your time and any tips you might give the group on how you solve these puzzles. Puzzle solvers love to hear if you found the CG challenging or easy.
You can certainly send your solution to my private reply, or if you need a hint for todays Cryptogram.
Solving the puzzle under 8 minutes is good, under 6 very good, under 4 excellent and under two "you're a pro!"
Those of you looking for an added challenge can try to solve one sentence or even one word at a time, i.e. solve the entire first line, then go to the second line etc.
If you need a little help you can copy the cryptogram and paste it to Hals Helper below:
You can then work on the puzzle without using pen and paper.
Solution to our last puzzle:
Always look upon the future with hope not with fear, and as something we will shape, not something to which we will submit. Condoleezza Rice
Key was solving the 4th word.
Please add me to your ping list. I look forward to starting my day with these. I “read” it over a few times and then I go read a few scriptures. I know my mind is still working on it in the background. When I come back, a word or letter usually pops out at me.
You’re not going to believe this, but a lot of us start the morning the same way.
March 6 is start of traditional Lent. I’m Greek Orthodox, so usually it starts later...doesn’t matter. I love participating in Lent. I’ll give up all alcohol, desserts and red meat.
I’ll start each morning reading scriptures.
I’m lately reading David Limbaugh’s Jesus Is Risen. I love the book. It’s basically a lot about Paul.
You probably know his story. He was born a Roman Citizen, and spent the first part of his life bringing Christians to trial. Then he had a vision on the Road to Damascus.
What really makes the story contemporary is the fact that whenever Paul would go, he would frequently be attacked, almost to death UNTIL it was discovered that he was a Roman “Citizen” then it was hands off.
I guess my point is that being a citizen means something special. It protects you. Why would anyone wish to come here and NOT HAVE the beauty of being a citizen with all its protections?
Amyway, thank you for the kind email, and I am happy to add you to the list. You are #59. You’re luck number today!
Couldn’t get today’s had to cheat. Need MOAR coffee!
I had to use Hal.
This was tough for me. 20 minutes.
XROH CEGNY
SES!
Finally, after a couple of false starts it’s finished . . . Whew!
Good Grief that was hard! That took an hour!
I pulled this from the Arkansas Democrat Gazette’s Daily Cryptoquote. It gives our little group an idea of how we stack up Nationally. I agree it’s kinda of an incomplete sentence, but then again it’s not.
In the future, I’ll make sure these follow clear Noun-verb-object etc.
Also, I try to limit the use of commas. If you see two or more commas then, I’m linking phrases, in which case the word “and” will usually follow the last comma.
If you see just ONE comma, then it will always be followed by “and” “but” “or”...
Cute!
