Texas store clerk shot and killed during robbery
51-year-old Ashraf Lakhani was shot and killed while working in a Lewisville convenience store.
A newlywed convenience store clerk in Texas was shot to death early Friday during an armed robbery, becoming the second person to be killed at a business in the area in three months.
The Lewisville Police Department said in a Facebook post the incident happened just after midnight at a Valero gas station when two armed robbers walked in.
During the robbery, which was captured on surveillance video, one of the men apparently said nothing to 51-year-old Ashraf Lakhani before shooting her.
It briefly shows the two suspects coming in, Lewisville Police Capt. Dan Rochelle told FOX4. The suspect wearing the blue zippered jacket immediately shoots her, and she falls to the ground. Then, he takes the money and they both run out of the store.
Police said a customer interrupted the robbery. The customer saw the two men running away and discovered Lakhani lying on the floor. She was rushed to the hospital, but she did not survive.
Authorities released an image of one suspect wearing a blue zipper jacket with white stripes. The two men then fled the scene with about $200, according to police.
Moneys not everything, store manager Abedin Mawani told FOX4. A life. Its very sad.

NO, Im not racist, but it is a fact.
.................................
Of course the stigma intimidates almost everyone, so most people claim they’re not racist when in fact they are.
Knew the clerk?! You don’t want to believe that there are people who will just kill for no reason?
Hired by someone?! You don’t want to believe that you can just be killed any day any time by anybody?
Distraction needed?! He killed her because he wanted to kill someone, or he just didn’t have the slightest inclination not to. It was his mere impulse to kill her. Why should he feel some need to talk her into giving him the money. He would have moved a trash can if it were in the way. (I do not know this any better than you dear FReeper, but if you will graciously grant my attempt to make the point.)
There is no point to understand anything about this except hunt him down and destroy him. If there is an explanation or some motive then perhaps the evidence will show that, but we cannot not assume that will be the case. And it will not make any difference anyway. This is the world we live in, though I admit that I wish it were as you imagine and that explanations such as you suggest would always present.
Not sure how you're dubbing all that in. There's nothing in the report even remotely suggesting the shooters knew the victim.
Per the data in the article, it sounds like the store clerk was an older female of Indian/Pakistani extraction, while the shooters (given the deafening roar of their ommitted races) were very likely 'aspiring rappers, on the verge of turning their lives around.'
I doubt the clerk had ever seen them before.
Or maybe we won't. Many (if not most) of the refugees streaming in here from California, are conservative Trump voters. I myself brought six reliable conservative votes from Cali to Texas over a dozen years ago.
Texas is one of the chief beneficiaries of American migration patterns, and quite a bit of that influx has been comprised of conservatives fleeing high tax blue states.
Thanks for doing that!
I just hear so many people here predicting that people leaving California for more conservative states will bring their voting tendencies with them. If there’s a tendency for California refugees to be Conservative, great.
“They” may be, but I am not.
That said, I avoid some high risk areas in a lot of towns because of the know violence. Like the East side of Atlanta when I travel through there. I’ve never had an “incident” but I’ve felt unwanted. That is not a racial issue, but a high risk issue.
Most major cities have those areas.
It's true, and they do, just not in the numbers some would lead you to believe.
I mean, think about it. Besides the economic attractions, what else could possibly cause libs to want to move here? Outside of the densest parts of our major cities, Texas likely feels hostile and foreign to most of them.
I saw a color coded migration map of the US recently. It clearly showed a huge exodus coming out of the New England states, and most of it was headed to Florida and California. A similar exodus is emanating from California, but the most common destinations are to heavily red states.
I think that map clearly shows who's moving where.
The episode near Golden Triangle and N Beach Street. Use to be such a safe area.
There had to be other photos of the killer. Are those gloves he was wearing or is he Amish (The Black Amish of Ohio)?
The public needs more information about who the killer is re a description - Height, weight, hair type or none, description of his face, etc.
No time to be a Texas version of the Keystone Cops.
The more information you get out to the public as fast as possible, the greater your chances of somebody identifying them or at least the coat. Like the old tv police crime show “The First 48”, you’ve got a limited window in which to catch these people, or at least identify them (before they flee the area/state).
Somebody KNOWS!
Condolences to the family of this woman and to the family of the other man killed a week before nearby.
Just image if Beto O’Rourke had become the governor of Texas. Crime would go through the stratosphere.
There is not a single state in the country that is becoming more conservative. Several, including Texas, are turning from red to purple though.
A while back, I read that the average sentence in Washington, DC for conviction of armed robbery was 5-1/2 years.
The average sentence in Washington, DC for the conviction for murder was 7-1/2 years.
If you are a thug, what is the cost/benefit ratio for eliminating all witnesses?
This was actually south of Golden Triangle. Summerfields area. Beach/North Tarrant Pkwy. Lived in this area as it was being newly developed back in 95ish. Moved back to Mid Cities and didn’t return until 2003. It’s been a very quiet area for the most part. However over the last few years, have heard more gunfire at NYE and more sirens up and down Beach. Halton City used to be the bad part, but it’s creeping north
Jeff Sessions teach you that?
Idiot.
The police requested information from the public in an earlier article:
https://www.fox4news.com/news/lewisville-store-clerk-killed-during-robbery
“Anyone with information is asked to call the Lewisville Police Department's tip line at 972-219-TIPS or submit an anonymous tip through the department's TIPLPD app.”
My gut tells me that the Texas Rangers are involved in pursuing this. If they are, you can rest assured they are NOT the Keystone Cops.
There are more of them now than they once were. I’m sure that the larger the numbers may have diluted the reputation. BUT, they are not an ineffective force.
Nobody who robs a gas station will simply walk up to the person and shoot them to death.
Years ago a friend of mine was working the counter at a local pizza place. A youth walked and without a word shot him in the face. He was dead before he hit the ground.
There was about $75 in the register.
Another time a friend of mine who ran one of those coin shops had a guy walk in and, once again, opened fire without saying a word. Thankfully that friend was carrying his .357 and killed the bad guy. But not before taking 2 rounds himself, one of which pierced his brachial artery. It took 20 units of blood to save his life.
Turns out the dead perp was suspected in 3 other robberies of coin shops all with the exact same MO. Walk in, shoot the proprietor dead, ransack the store, and leave. One was in Michigan and the other in Florida.
It happens. Believe me, it happens.

Sounds like a possible racist hate crime. I’m sure celebrities and politicians will be tweeting their outrage, over this, in no time.
RIP to this woman and her family. I read that she has young children.
Yes. And recently married.
And she attended a nearby Mosque.
I think they will be caught. We’ll see how that plays out if they are located. The state of Texas has people who are quite capable of halting this.
In November 2018, Suresh Sam Shah, the owner of a liquor store in the shopping center next to the Valero gas station, was shot and killed during an armed robbery in the parking lot. Police have not made any arrests in his slaying.
"My family is still shattered so I don't even know how to collect pieces completely yet," said Bina Shah, his wife.
Shah said her husband knew Lakhani well saying the clerk even offered condolences when he passed away.
The Lewisville Police Department said so far, they have no evidence the two killings are linked, despite the close proximity in location.
---
Coincidence? There is still a possiblity that this is linked in my opinion. I missed this connection before.
Then all is lost, and we don't have to care anymore! Wheee!
