The 10 Most Overrated Musical Artists of All Time
PJ Media ^ | 13 Feb 2019 | Chris Queen

Not long ago, I wrote about the most overrated hits songs of all time. I love compiling lists like those because they allow me to get in touch with my snarky side as well as rant a little. In that post four months ago, I mused about doing a list of overrated artists. Well, the time has come.

Here are the ten most overrated musical artists of all time. Don’t get me wrong: I like some of the music by some of these artists, and though there are only a few bands and solo performers I completely despise, you’ll find that I don’t hold back on how little I care for many of the folks on this list.

Believe me, I’m aware that I’m going to ruffle some feathers with this list. I’m fine with that, because taste in music is always subjective. But as you read the list, keep an open mind and see if you agree with me. And even if you don’t, just have fun reading it

Lorelei is a great song!

I always thought Dennis DeYoung was the fag in Styx, and not the bass player.

“You need to check out Journey before the whiny lead singer came on board.”

Absolutely! “Look Into The Future” was a phenomenal release.

Peter Frampton was in Humble Pie which is one of the best rock bands of all time.

Thanks to Steve Marriott.

You’re right. Pop music has become trite and bizarre.

One can’t help but be exposed a little but I haven’t followed pop culture since the mid ‘70s. Sports neither.

You could put Katy Perry, Brittany Spears, and Serena Williams in front of me and I couldn’t tell you who is who, lol. It’s true.

Yes, much better band they were then. Featuring Gregg Rolie on lead vocals and keyboards (on classic rock radio all the time singing Santana’s version of Fleetwood Mac’s Black Magic Woman).

Highlights are Topaz from the first album and I’m Gonna Leave You from the second.

Right you are. The Beatles were sheer perfection and everyone knows it though some won’t admit it.

The Small Faces were better with Marriott too.

Love Oingo Boingo.

I don’t know if Danny Elfman is a Conservative, but “Capitalism” is one of the best “Conservative” songs.

I didn’t click on the link, But I can end this thread. The most overrated artist of all time. Michael Jackson he was made a number one in sales for Thriller because record stores like the one I owned in the eighties were forced to buy it in advance in large quantity’s with no return privilege. A first ever.

He would blow Robert Plant off the stage.

Thriller was a Quincy Jones record, with Michael singing on it.

I have a strong affinity for that song. I had the luxury of jamming with a classmate and friend who was probably the best drummer I’ve ever played with in my 35 years as a bass player. The kid was John Bonham in a 16 year old’s body, just unreal talent and feel. We played Waiting on a friend and it was one of the more memorable times playing music with him. We did many other more complicated tunes as well, but I couldn’t get over how I felt after that simple stones tune.

It’s really sad and aggravating that I lost touch with him only to find out about 5 years later that he had taken his life (he hanged himself) .
