Robbie Williams accused of ‘tormenting’ Led Zeppelin’s Jimmy Page by playing Black Sabbath...

ROBBIE Williams is "tormenting" neighbour Jimmy Page by blasting Black Sabbath and dressing up his Led Zeppelin bandmate Robert Plant, a letter claims.

The pair have been locked in a feud over the Take That star's plans for a mega-basement pool at his £17.5million mansion in London.

Page, 75, insists the work would damage his Grade I listed home with its valuable mosaics.

The plans were were passed by the council last month.

But according to a bizarre letter sent to the council, written by a man named only as 'Johnny'.

It claims Robbie was aping Led Zep singer Plant by wearing a long wig and stuffing a pillow up his shirt as a fake beer belly.

Robbie strongly denies the claims.

The note, to Kensington and Chelsea borough says the Angels singer has been blaring out Black Sabbath, Pink Floyd and Deep Purple whenever he sees Plant outside.

Posted on line, it reads: "It has come to my attention of possible new evidence and information that could have a bearing on the ruling or any appeal process.

The committee may not have been aware that Robbie Williams has been playing loud 70's rock music on outside speakers when he views Jimmy Page outside his home.

"What's been most annoying is that Mr Williams has played rock arch rival bands Black Sabbath, Pink Floyd and Deep Purple.

"He obviously knows this upsets Mr Jimmy Page.

I used to get in trouble for blasting Frank Zappa. Deep Purple with Steve Morse is good to go.

If he really wanted to bother him, he would play The Who.

You do know Jimmy played the guitar on "I Can't Explain."

Easy to believe that the extraordinary mind and imagination of Jimmy Page would seek out the architecture shown in the photo’s.

Robbie Williams home is probably littered with cigarette butts and velvet black light posters.

I've been following this as well, and I agree that Williams is not being a very nice neighbor.

But consider this from a property rights perspective...what gives Page the power to hamstring Williams' property rights? To be sure, if construction activity on Williams' property impacts any structural element of Page's property, that's a direct violation of Page's property and that should be taken into account (which per the article, is probably why workers can't use a backhoe and have to use shovels). Beyond that, classical liberals would say "build away, Mr. Williams."

As for the "harassment," yea...Williams sounds like a real piece of work (though I find it funny that Jimmy is upset by the music of other bands) and I don't condone his behavior. But I find it hard to have sympathy for an old man who had sex with a 14-year old back in the day.

Isn’t that the house Aleister Crowley once lived in? I heard many years ago Page had bought Crowley’s house, don’t know if it’s this one. Some truly interesting decor though. If it is Crowley’s house, the history alone would make it a national landmark, worth a lot more than Page paid for it many years ago.

But who the hell is Robbie Williams? Never heard of the band either...

I guess I’m out of touch though, rock music went to hell in a handbasket in the 80’s, I stopped listening to radio altogether. Very few good artists since then...Tom Petty, Jeff Heally, John Mayer, George Thorogood, Eric Johnson and some of those were already started...

I think Keith Richards might have something to say about that.

I doubt anyone really likes neighbors playing loud music outside but I am not sure why the music of those particular bands would upset Page.

Page has infinite more class , talent and taste

I am not taking sides in an argument I know nothing about, but that house is a tasteless monstrosity in the "Scottish Baronial" style. It is nouveau riche softened by the patina of time. It is the sort of thing that Randolph Hearst would have delighted in, meaning it would have purchased it, torn it down, and moved it to Califronia, lock stock and barrel.

At the same time, if it were torn down, whatever modern monstrosity replaced it would be far far worse.
