Anyway, that was like 30 years ago and if I recall they didn't have high or low back then (at least on the one I bought) They were just called Slow Cookers and you just plugged them in.

Ha!
Mine’s got “high”, “low” and “warm” settings.
Set it on “high” till the meat’s cooking (usually it’s frozen meat that’s boughg on sale at the date limit) then to “low”.
Wake up and put it to “warm”. Then “off” after I’ve had my coffee.
Always turns out good.

Absolutely all she's supposed to do is read whatever gets stuck in front of her. (It's also supposed to be done with maximum sincerity, even if she doesn't have any clue at all what she's talkin' 'bout.)

I start mine in the daytime then it is ready for dinner. I sure wouldn’t want to wake up to reset it. I have NEVER put frozen meat in mine because I read up that it could crack the crock pot from the temper change.

Never heard that, but it’s on a bed of onion slices anyway. Never had a problem.
I don’t wake up to set it to “warm”, I do that when I wake in the morning.
“Cheap and easy” are my guidelines for cooking... makes for the best meals IMO.
