Henry Ford was peaking as a global celebrity at the conclusion of World War I, having introduced the $5 workday, assembly line and Model T -- revolutionary changes that transformed the way people lived. Reporters staked out the gates of his Fair Lane mansion. Ford loved the limelight and he constantly made news, even running for the U.S. Senate in Michigan as a Democrat in 1918. He narrowly lost.
In the midst of his fame, Ford became a media mogul of sorts, forming the Dearborn Publishing Company and purchasing the sleepy Dearborn Independent weekly newspaper, which was dying of red ink. He published the paper under his name for the first time 100 years ago, in January 1919. Under Ford, the Independent became notorious for its unprecedented attacks on Jews. But Fords anti-Semitism traveled far beyond the Dearborn borders. Showing the marketing expertise that had catapulted Ford Motor into one of the world's most famous brands, Henry Ford's lieutenants vastly widened the reach of his attacks by packaging the papers anti-Semitic content into four books. Experts say "The International Jew," distributed across Europe and North America during the rise of fascism in the 1920s and 30s, influenced some of the future rulers of Nazi Germany.
In 1931, two years before he became the German chancellor, Adolf Hitler gave an interview to a Detroit News reporter in his Munich office, which featured a large portrait of Ford over the desk of the future führer. The reporter asked about the photo.
"I regard Henry Ford as my inspiration, Hitler told the News.

The Ford story isn’t new. Nothing has ever been hidden. Now, Margaret Sanger on the other hand...
Nope, you are spouting Replacement theology.
I don’t know that Henry Ford drank. If I had to guess, I would say he was probably a teetotaler.
He was pretty straitlaced, favoring square dances for example. He was picky about who he hired, and I don’t really have a problem with that too much, I guess. $5 a day doesn’t sound like much today but it went a long ways then. So many people showed up to apply, they had to turn fire hoses on them to drive them off. In January. Rival automakers and businessmen called him a “Socialist” and were incensed. Ford thought that his workers should be paid well enough to be able to afford a car.
Working on an assembly line in those days was not easy. At the time the River Rouge plant was the most up to date operation utilizing the latest materials, machines and processes. Vanadium steel for axles for example, the list is extensive.
A friend invited me to attend a speech given by William F. Buckley Jr. (I didn't even know who he was then) at Stegman Coliseum on the campus of UGA in DEC 1976. Seems like there were maybe 200+ students in attendance. After WFB's speech (I remember nothing about the content) he entertained a Q&A session. I specifically recall 1 student challenging him by declaring that Henry Ford supported Adolf Hitler during WWII. WFB flatly denied it. The student politely disagreed by saying "I guess we will have to agree to disagree". WFB simply said "Yes."
What I have found in my studies of history is that huge corporations and banks have no loyalties or scruples in times of war. If they can profit from both sides they will. And they always have. WFB was wrong and the student was right. :)
Henry Ford was a great man for what he did to contribute to mankind, but he like all of us was a man. A flawed man in some respects like each of us.
I've never heard him accused of being a drunk, and whoever it was on this thread should give some reference or give that up.
Not long ago here on FR someone posted a thread that got pulled by Jim Robinson. It was about how Martin Luther was also an anti semite. Yes you can google it and find a target rich environment. JimRob's reason was WHY?
I don't think many here would argue that Luther didn't also make a huge contribution to the world. Let's not join the mob toppling statues of confederate generals. We're Freepers. We're better than that.
I doubt Ford was a drunk. He did drank warm water, thought it was good for him.
As for $5/day, it was not to help workers buy cars, it was to control his workforce: he had so much turnover in employees that he realize if he set incentives for higher pay he could create a more stable, predictable workforce.
He offered $5/day to workers who stayed on the job a year, so it wasn’t an automatic pay raise, but it did resolve his problem of employee attrition.
Good I will give it up. Heard it years ago and I can't second source it, so I will revise and rescind my remarks and take it back. It may or may not be linked to a story that he would ride his horse out to the Lord Fox Inn restaurant (I am not sure what it is now) on the outskirts of Ann Arbor on Sunday's I believe for something to eat, apparently a favorite of his. That I heard from a local or a restaurateur.
You’re thinking of Henry Ford 2 who had a DUI. Once as I recall...hardly proves he was a drunk either.
They’re restoring the old Lord Fox from what I’ve heard. It was a cool place with one of the best patio dining areas.

I never understood hatred for ALL Jews, either. However, it is very easy to lump together a race or group of people and blame them ALL for the evils of a few.
The few are abominably evil and are not “real” Jews. That means they are not the faithful believers in the God of their fathers and even Jesus called them out. The few are actually worshipers of Satan. Do some research especially regarding the Torah vs the Talmud (written by the Pharisees).
I think we should keep in mind Revelation 7:9 + 10
[ A Multitude from the Tribulation ] After these things I looked, and behold, a great multitude which no one could count, from every nation and all tribes and peoples and tongues, standing before the throne and before the Lamb, clothed in white robes, and palm branches were in their hands;; 10 and they cry out with a loud voice, saying,
Salvation to our God who sits on the throne, and to the Lamb.
I was doing a little more research and found a quote:
It is well enough that people of the nation do not understand our banking and monetary system, for if they did, I believe there would be a revolution before tomorrow morning.-henry Ford
So was Ford’s antisemitism actually anti-banking-FAMILY-ism?
Ford probably refused to bow to the deep state cabal of the time. I wonder if any members of his family were clintoned and while I am on a rant, and the “banking-FAMILY” usually profit from WAR, I wonder what hand they had in our civil war.
I used to wonder about how long judgment day would be since instead of billions living simultaneously, judgment day would be each life CONSECUTIVELY and personally, I really do want to know the TRUTH of our history and then be allowed to forget the evil since it will be burned away. What peace, what joy, what love!
“All believers in Christ now constitute the Biblical Israel.”
This heresy has been rejected by almost all Christian denominations, including, I believe even the Lutherans, who were keenly antisemitic from the start. The Bible is very clear that Christians are “grafted in” to the promise to Abraham. Nothing says we supplant them.
“We appreciate the political nation of Israel because we consider them an ally; however that relationship is full problems, and I think they spy on us and betray us all the time.”
Not sure about “betray” unless you mean bucking Obama, Carter, and other American presidents (and the US State Department) who were open antisemites and bent on their destruction.
But I do know they spy on us, and we on them. So does the UK, Canada, Australia, et al. Heck, many a US spy gets busted in Israel and sent back. That’s just what countries do. Do you also dislike the UK, Canada, and Australia? Or do you just single out Israel for keeping tabs on the likes of Obama?
“I have no doubt that they are a major impediment in the US dealing with Arabs on our own terms.”
Then you’re an idiot. Unless “impediment” means “refusing to die”. Israel is very much a forward operating base for US actions in the ME.
Thank you so much for the verse, it made my day.
I admire them. They are our big brothers, in my opinion. We are the adopted children.
Israel as an outward and political entity associated in any way with God’s people died not long after Christ was resurrected.
You very ignorantly misrepresent Christian and Lutheran doctrine.
Yes, I dislike UK, Canada and Australia. You’ll get up to speed about what at least two of them have done to us just recently in terms of trying to undermine our American movement and patriotic president.
To be defined as an idiot by someone with your way of thinking - that is fine and I’ll wear it proudly.
I learned all I needed to known about Lutherans from reading Luther’s “On Jews and their Lies”.
Disgusting man who inspired the Holocaust.
I understand the modern Lutherans are distancing themselves from his heresy, which I applaud.
> I learned all I needed to known about Lutherans
I understand that you don’t think you need to learn any more.
