With singer Gladys Knight having performed the national anthem at the Super Bowl, there was contention by some who wished she had not given the controversy surrounding Colin Kaepernick.
She defended her decision to preform [sic] on Friday during her interview on CNN.
“People are going to have their opinions. You know, about whatever. And all I can deal with, all I can deal with right now is what my heart says. Okay? I believe in fairness,” Knight explained. “I believe in truth. I believe in all of those things, and as far as this is concerned, I grew up with the national anthem. We used to sing it in school before school started. We used to say prayers in school before school started, and we just don’t have that anymore and I’m just — I’m just hoping that it will be about our country and how we treat each other and being the great country that we are.”

I’m racking my brain. Is there any other planet on earth where blacks do as well and have as many opportunities as in the US?
Perhaps Lemon, who, with information, understanding, wisdom and motivation for unity might use his microphone for good, will choose to enlighten himself by reading an address by a Black Legislator and A.M.E. Bishop who lived through the Civil War, and, despite that, delivered a powerful Sermon celebrating the Declaration of Independence in 1876:

Gladys Knight sang beautifully and is a classy lady. I love her comments about her childhood and praying in school.
Gladys Knight and the flyover were the only parts I watched. I figured she would do our Anthem justice. I’m not usually a fan of non traditional tunes for our anthem but she gave an absolutely stellar rendition.
I’ve never been a football fan so not watching didn’t represent any sacrifice on my part.
They don’t want sane people...
