A beloved TV character came to life today, Star Trek: The Next Generation's Data, 'born' (that is to say permanently re-activated by Dr. Noonien Soong) on this day in the future year of 2338. Happy Birthday Data!
IIRC TRoi and Data were a split of spock’s characteristics into two entities.
Wow, and I thought I was a Trekkie.
You take Grand Prize
And they got rid of the mini-skirts!
I called it Deep Snore Nine
Best written and best acted best character driven roles great continuing story best actor emsemble
Just watched DS9’s “In the pale moonlight” imho one of the best television episodes I’ve ever seen and DS9 has a few of them.
With all of Data’s capabilities, why was he not promoted above Lieutenant Commander?
Spoiler:
Wasn’t it a shocker when we found out who Garak’s father was?
I’ve always been a fan of the space shows, starting with Star Trek. Recently noticed my autistic son had Next Gen in the favorites on the tube. I told him we have to watch ST all in order, starting with the original. We’re most of the way through season 1 and got to watch the pilot that never was with Captain Chris Pike. The first pilot was rejected and had a different actor as captain. Spock acted more human in it also.
Three seasons, 179 episodes. They worked their butt off back then.
After the original series, we’ll go on with the movies and eventually Next Gen.
Probably won’t do all those alternatives. Black captain for black people, woman captain for the girls etc. Never could stand that actress’ voice.
