One of us…one of us……..

There are a few people in my life who arent into preparedness. Oh, theyre fine right-thinking people, and they know of my particular bent, but while they don’t ridicule me they also don’t really feel the need to be on my bandwagon. Not a big deal, we can still be friends.

So today Im talking to one and he asks me if I know a place for MRE’s. We chat a bit nad he says he wants some for hunting and to keep in his truck. We talk some more and asks if I know anything about “this Red Feather canned butter stuff”. C’mon…canned butter is not a hunting or keep-in-the-truck item. We dance a little more and, sure enough, he’s coming around to think that maybe having a stockpile of food and supplies isn’t a bad idea.

We talked a while about the LDS cannery, shelf life of foods, etc, etc. I’ll loan him a few books.

He’s not looking for a lifestyle, he just wants a little insurance. And, really, thats what most people are after. They don’t want a life of driving to the Kroger’s in a 4×4, wearing desert boots all the time, and wearing a riggers belt with 5.11’s. They just want to feel a bit more secure. Nothing wrong with that.

The number of people I know who aren’t preparing for trouble is getting smaller and smaller. Thats a good thing.

Isn’t this a form of worry? That you don’t trust God to make things work out?

Even in fall 2008, when it looked like the whole financial system was going to collapse, everything worked out. Why? There’s too many vested interests, too many reeeeally rich people that want to keep it going, for society to collapse.

Plus, storable food is not really that healthy (look at all the chemicals) ... fresh is always best, why deprive yourself?

Enjoy this life!!

Sure. History shows us what happens to the traditionalists and conservative folks when they stand aside and let the progressive socialists take control. History is clear in this.

I’m an old Boyscout. We started over 20 years ago. But not for ourselves, for our Grandchildren.

Prepare for the worst and hope for the best.

But it takes more than just a few cans of food. It requires a whole lifestyle change and long term investment or you are only delaying the inevitable.

And that’s what it takes to be sufficient long term. With fruit trees, nut trees, especially a hardy source of vitamin C.

Plenty of scripture that God expects us to do our part.

Everything from "Do not put the Lord your God to the test."

to be a good steward, and "A good man leaves an inheritance to his children's children"

"especially a hardy source of vitamin C."

Tang (remember Tang?) is still available online and has 100% of the anti-scurvy C! For those of us not in citrus growing climates who want to prep.

Joseph was commanded to store up food for the coming famine. I doubt he was worried.

Believe it or not, citrus is not the only high content source. Many colder zone hardy crops and trees have just as much or more. Peppers and Chilies, and Strawberries for example. There are several hardy cold weather varieties of Kiwi fruit, some Plum varieties, And the native PAW PAW. The most advantageous position is to be set up for the long term.

Lol... Pretty much describes the majority of residents in my area. At any given time probably 1/4 of the parking lots have cammo vehicles. :)

That you don’t trust God to make things work out?

Noah trusted God. He built an ark. IF you believe Gods Word then you know bad times are a coming. Man has always been expected to put forth SOME effort.

Unless you’re truly remote, off the grid, you might be preparing for someone else’s survival. The fat ones will draw attention to themselves.

Even in fall 2008, when it looked like the whole financial system was going to collapse

The great market crash of '29 was similar to 2008, things seemed better until the final market decay began in the early thirties, then the market was dead.

International economic failure then leads to war. The winds of war was present in the 30's, as it is now.

The dollar is in the process of falling out of being flagship currency... China and Russia are seeing to this. Know your history, and you'll know that '08 wasn't the end, but it could be considered the beginning of the end.

Learn how fiat currencies work/fractional reserve banking works, and you'll see they historically have a life span of under 100 years... by design.

I'm sure the English felt just like you, the flagship currencies was the Pound Sterling...now it's the Dollar.

Sometimes being naive does let you live without worry, until it doesn't.
