No, your eyes aren't playing tricks on you that's an alpaca walking around in an optician's office.
The fluffy mammal walked into an optician's office in Hennebont, France after authorities believe it escaped from a nearby farm, SWNS reports.
As the alpaca walked past the store, the automatic doors opened and the curious camelid decided to venture in for a closer look. Photographer Pierre-yves Nicolas spotted the furry creature and said it appeared to be at ease, checking itself out in the mirrors.
"The alpaca walked down the street, past my studio and stopped in front of the opticians' shop," the 58-year-old photographer said.
"He stayed there for half an hour. He was quiet and he was not afraid."
"He was intrigued by the mirrors," Nicolas added.
Native to South America, alpacas are closely related to llamas, though they are often significantly smaller.

You must have a massive collection of these animated gifs...always good ones, too!
I love them. I collect them, and have some really funny ones.
Lol! Perfect!
“alpaca wandered into an optician’s office”
I make a lot of them myself from YouTube videos, using this site below.

Very cool, I’m gonna try it out!
Alpacas are just epitomes of cute. I got to pet one at a pet expo last year. Soft.....
Re: your bouncing alpaca vid- I could never own one (and I’ll keep talking the farm next door out of them) because all that damn bouncing! It’s ridiculous! How the hay are you supposed to get any work done when you’re rolling on the ground laughing at the idiot alpaca bouncer?? LOL!
I agree. But they're apparently not the only animal that bounces around like that. Pandas and gorillas have been observed engaging in a similar behavior.
Alpacas are gay llamas . . . it’s true, I tell ya’
I C W Y D T at least until I take off my spectacles.
Only llamas are beasts of burden. Alpacas can’t carry weight. They are both camiliads, with alpacas descended from vicunas and llamas descended from guanacos. I would say they’re ‘completely domesticated’ with a caveat. My suri, Whisper, would definitely argue that point lol.
Alpacas are not as hardy as llamas and are one of the few animals that will die from stress. Alpacas were probably the first animals on the Ark - because you can’t have just one - they have to have a buddy and even a trip to the vet or a show means taking at least two. So it’s surprising to see a single wandering around, they usually want their herd in sight at all times.
The Huacaya breed of alpaca ( the escapee and most of those pictured here) are smaller than the Suri breed and are fuzzy like a sheep whereas the Suri has curly locks that will go dreadlock if shearing is put off a year. The Suris are taller: their necks are longer, their legs are longer, and they have a short tail of hair, so they have more of a deer meets colt look to them. Head to head, most of them are as tall as I am. Introduced to the USA in 1991, they comprise only 15% of the world-wide alpaca herd. The Suri is way more squirrely than the Huacayas, my vet thought they were all crazy until she met ours. But they just need a quiet handler who moves slower, speaks gently and gives them time to process instead of rushing them.
Both breeds are smarter than most dogs and each animal has its own distinct personality, obvious when given the command to ‘go home’ after a day of freeranging. Some will go straight to the barn, some will take a defiant last pronk or two around the barn. One Suri I’ve had for four years thinks she’s a vicuna (deer) and has remained shy, another thinks she’s a dog and likes ear scratches, and the gelding, who hates german shephards and loves Pomeranians, throws his neck up and starts prancing up and down the fence line in excitement whenever a horse is ridden past the fenceline, so we know what he wants to be, lol.

#10 - it’s as bad for them as it is for the recipient. The alpaca has two spits , the first one is just mouth contents or regular spit - doesn’t stink.
The second type is the killer. It’s regurgitated from the first stomach and stinks to high heaven - and for 10 or 15 minutes after launching that spit bomb, the alpaca will walk around with its mouth open, looking miserable, until the taste and smell dissipate off their tongue.
Looks like an 80s group! One of the Australian ones!
(Diana-they guard sheep! These would go great with your herd of sheep! If you don’t have a herd you’ll probably want one after seeing this picture!)
Bump for later crass exploitation.
If it's not too personal a question, how many times have you been spit on by an alpaca?

I should point out, the only ones I created on this thread were 3, 21, and 23.
