I don’t understand how people can afford to use web based video services. Do those of you who buy this stuff have unlimited data plans that maintain speed or complimentary WiFi?
HULU is raising its prices. (not it’s prices)
it’s = it is
Basic plan going from $8 to $6.
I stopped using their free service when they started streaming “Plan B” abortifacient ads. Why I am I letting that into my house?
very often, you can receive local tv broadcast stations using a simple small easy $15 or $20 window antenna (flat, internal to your unit, nothing sticks out, nothing needs to be visible from outdoors just put a nice looking cloth curtain in front of it) works anywhere there’s a decent signal, anyways
People laugh when they see this old-fashioned beast from the 1950s looming up near the high ceiling, swivelling hither and yon at the end of a steel rod mounted in a short segment of 2x4 lumber. I'm sure you could invent a more elegant mounting arrangement than Hillbilly-Redneck Classic, though. ^_^
I’ve been with Sling for a year. In some areas, they have at least one local channel, and most local channels these days also stream their newscasts directly. Only real complaint I’ve had with Sling is no Fox News. Their Orange package is $25 and they have a free trial.
YouTube just announced today a forty buck package that’ll include local channels in most of the country, might want to check that out.
Given how quickly things are changing (Pluto just sold today too), I’d avoid anything that can’t be dropped on a moment’s notice.
Pretty soon cord-cutters will be paying just as much as if they had cable.
All the streaming services will slowly rise to close to cable prices. Most are around $40 now for good packages. I switched from Sling to PSVue to now Youtube TV.
Get YouTube Prime and watch old movies, documentaries and tv shows you have not seen before.
dropped them when they went libtard
they keep begging me to come back
there is so much free content online
“Can’t do an antenna”
It is possible that you are scanning the analog channel line up only. That doesn’t exist anymore. Be sure your set is scanning the digital channels, look in your manual.
For a one-time price of $30 for Roku I have a virtually unlimited amount of options...at least 25 good channels of free movies and television shows and most amazing, access to YouTube which could eat up a lifetime by itself. Very happy with it! But it is coming off an already paid for internet connection from the living room. Still beats paying for an extra box with a monthly fee.
The new antennae are flat like a piece of paper and about as big. Mount in a window or just on the wall. Should be able to pull in local hd channels.
Got mine for $20 on Amazon.
I read this as “Hell is raising it’s prices! Time to shop.”
Works though LOL!
Someone else in the thread may have already posted this (I’m too lazy right now to check), but if you have an HDTV you can get an HD antenna. HD antennas are indoor antennas and flat. Mine is 10 by 12 inches and about half an inch thick. It lies flat on a shelf. You can easily use it in an apartment.
Sling tv is raising prices too. They are cable tv but has several more channels and ability to watch shows anytime for most of the channels offered.
It was $30/month then several months ago they raised it to $35. I received an email from them last week saying that the 4 EPIX channels are going to another tier and would cost $5 more. I hardly watch any of Sling but TCM.
Try the FREE Pluto TV. It has lots of tv shows and lots of movies and documentaries. I use a Roku 4.
Roku has at least 3,000 apps.
