To ensure everyone's safety, the river is closed to all recreational vessels. No drones or alcoholic beverages will be permitted, and backpacks and bags will be checked. We certainly don't want people bringing their own explosives to the party. This is not a DIY project. This is a wise move.

Looks like they’re blowing up the last segment of the Tappan Zee Bridge. The rest of the bridge is already gone.

Is there a live feed to view this as it happens?
To: katnip

It would be freaking hilarious if they blew up the new bridge by accident.

Bob James album "Touchdown" was on
Tappan Zee Records label and included the track "Angela", better known as the theme to "Taxi" and featured the late great Eric Gale on guitar.

The old eastern portion of the bridge is now sitting in the river. It will be manually dismantled and towed away.
This part of the old Tappan Zee Bridge was too structurally unsound for workers to take apart so, kaboom!

I just watched an interesting documentary on Netflix last night. “Sad Hill Unearthed.” About how some film fans unearthed the cemetery set from “The Good the Bad and the Ugly” in Spain. They said the Spanish army was in charge of blowing up the bridge and the engineer mistook a comment from someone on the film crew as the go sign. No cameras were running. Leone was fit to be tied, of course. They had to rebuild the bridge and shoot it all over again.

They made that mistake while tearing down an old bridge here in Pittsburgh back in the 80's. An ironworker was cutting it with a torch. The bridge suddenly buckled and snapped his leg off. Kaboom is safer.

Thanks I'll have to check out Bob James and Eric Gale as I loved that song when I was younger. When you mentioned Eric Gale the first thing I thought of was the left handed black guitarist that was a child prodigy of sorts back in the late 80s named Eric Gales.
Here he is now:

Whoa! I had that one. Terrific album, I might have to go to Amazon and get it back!
