The Weekly Gardening Thread is a weekly gathering of folks that love soil, seeds and plants of all kinds.
From complete newbies that are looking to start that first potted plant, to gardeners with some acreage, to Master Gardener level and beyond, we would love to hear from you.
This thread is non-political, although you will find that most here are conservative folks. No matter what, you wont be flamed and the only dumb question is the one that isnt asked.
It is impossible to hijack the Weekly Gardening Thread. Planting, Harvest to Table(recipes)preserving, good living - there is no telling where it will go and... that is part of the fun and interest. Jump in and join us!
NOTE: This is a once a week ping list. We do post to the thread during the week. Links to related articles and discussions which might be of interest are welcomed any time-and don't have to be about gardening.
It was very wet and heavy. Temp warmed a bit. I shoveled a path to the compost container, and hubby cleared a patio and path to the trash can, and to the driveway.
I now have 3 tomatoes starting and several flowers, still have blooms on the lemon tree. Flower stalk on the aloe vera is getting bigger-anxious to see what it looks like.
The thyme is really starting to pick up-summer nearly killed it. Rosemary has lasted longer than I've ever been able to keep it going inside before-inside the green house on a table with the crockpot this year.
We have picked out a fireplace insert from on-line shopping and found a supplier in the next town over. So we will be calling and talking about that on Monday.
Enjoying looking through a few catalogs. I have spent quite a bit of time trying to load tax software. The disc drive hasn't launched the auto install, and I haven't been able to figure out what the problem is.
I have several instructions on various possible solutions, but so far none have worked. I plan to try my laptop to see if that will work sometimes next week.
Prayers up for all. Have a great weekend. God Bless.
Hydroponics is what I do, wish I knew how to post a picture!
Pinging the List.
Here
I have a problem posting pics too.
Howdy.
I grew the most beautiful Krim Tomatoes...from seed. They were stunning.
And my black cherry tomatoes....magnificent....100s on one single plant.
Amazing----black cherry tomatoes grow 100s on one single plant.
Nice!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Sounds good. We don’t have community gardens here, but at least we do have a farmer’s market.
Oops...sorry about the caption “Ruins from the days of Paul’s journeys”....forgot to remove. LOL.
A lemon tree? You have a green house?
I remember the wonderful taste. I would put a bowl of them near my commputer and eat them like candy. No salt necessary.
Here is what you do:
find the url of thge picture you want to post. This means that your own pics have to be converted onto a url by using flicker, fotki, tinypic, or whatever.
Then, encase in in brackets like this:
< img src =(put your url here without the parenthesis) >< /img src >
You have to remove the spaces before and after the < > to make it work.
Freepmail me if I can be of further help.
What kind of fireplace insert are you looking at? We have a Country brand wood stove insert. I would recommend getting double walled stainless steel chimney plumbing with about 6-inch inside diameter. I started with single walled regular steel plumbing and the organic condensates that formed right where the plumbing was exposed to outdoor temps corroded right through in 5 years. The condensates are very acidic. The double walled type plumbing insulates to minimize the condensation and the stainless does not corrode.
We just had a snow storm that was about 8 inches and the low tonight is supposed to be about 11F. Right now it is 18F, but with the stove blazing it is 75F inside. We also have propane powered hot water baseboard radiant heat, but keep the thermostats set at 60F.
Comment #15 is for you too! :-)
I’m in upstate. Friggin’ freezn’ is right. Need milk but too cold to go out. Maybe tomorrow.
LOL. So funny. thanks.
Yes, I have a green house. We put it up a little over a year ago. It is one of those attached to the house sorts. So I can open the sliding glass door and walk into the greenhouse.
The floor is our lower patio. However, I brought the lemon tree indoors-I’ve had it since 2010. It does fine indoors in front of the patio door. This summer, I failed to care for it as well as I usually do, and I had a dolly that didn’t have adequate drainage.
So it had a set back. It’s a dwarf tree, and has wonderful juicier and sweeter tasting lemons. Usually I have lemons by now, but this year it is just now blooming.
