SANTA CLARA, Calif. With stunning ease and a freshman quarterback Clemson toppled college footballs greatest dynasty again to become the first perfect playoff champion.
Trevor Lawrence passed for 347 yards and three touchdowns and the second-ranked Tigers beat No. 1 Alabama 44-16 on Monday night in the College Football Playoff national championship game.
Nick Saban On CFP Championship Loss To Clemson: 'I Didn't Do a Very Good Job'
Mighty quiet here in Alabama this morning.
Much respect to both programs.
Last night was one of those things, Clemson is better, but I don’t know about 28 points better. Things just kind of snowballed on Alabama. It’s just startling because that never happens to Alabama.
Clemson was the better team, their pass rush was amazing.
Can the rest of CFB catch up?
No offense, but I’m very happy with the result. I have a long-held grudge against Saban...ever since he pimped out on Michigan State.
The Karma if Doug Jones had something to do with this (he said, not seriously).
It’s good to be a South Carolinian!
Clemson: Making America orange again!
So maybe those who said ND was no good after last week, will understand that Clemson is just too good. ND beat more top 25 teams than any other team. While Clemson played a very easy schedule until the end. Nobody understood they were this good.
Beating Alabama 44 to 16 and ND 30 to 3 after means the argument is over. Clemson is the best team. But to lose 3 players just before the game to illegal growth hormones. I wonder if the rest of Clemson’s team should be tested.
Not having any emotional attachments to either team, it was a good game.
GO GATORS!.............................
Congratulations to Clemson. The best team last night won. But the Tide will be back, then watch out. Roll Tide.
Let me just say up front that I do not like Clemson, and I do not like its coach, Dabo Swinney.
But Clemson was so dominant last night, and so explosive, that there is no question that it has one of the best college football teams ever. And Clemson is a YOUNG team, with an outstanding freshman quarterback and an acrobatic, one-hand pass-catching freshman at wide receiver; and if that’s not enough, four of its starting offensive line will be returning next season. If the defense continues to play like it has, Clemson is on track to become the new dynasty.
Congratulations to Clemson.
Saban’s been all over the football universe...........

It was one game. Another day, Alabama would have won, then another and Clemson would have won. You just never knew when they are well matched.
I have been a Bama fan since around 1960 maybe before that. Despite that I was pulling for Clemson. Didn’t get to see the game but saw the score when I woke up.
Just sometimes it is fun pulling for the underdog.
This Gamecock fan agrees, unfortunately.
Nobody loses more painfully than Saban!
Looks like he finally found a home.
This kid is the real deal. I don’t think I’m exaggerating to say he’s a lock for the 2019 and 2020 Heisman trophy and to be the first player taken in the NFL draft in 2021. Of course barring any unforeseen catastrophes like an injury. I can’t even imagine doing what he did at 19 freakin’ years old!!
MSU fan here, so I also love to see Saban lose. The topper was the post game interview, where credit to God was given.
Go Gators!!!
Nobody loses more painfully than Saban!
I nominate Cam Newton!
