Yes, it's true, they are SO-O-O-O late in achieving this milestone. It's about time.
Of course, it's also notable that Windows 7 is just as widespread, and arguably more popular (since Win7 users are presumably keeping 7 by preference, whereas a lot of Win10 users have 10 because they have no choice).
And BTW, die-hard Win7 users: you have just ONE YEAR LEFT of security updates. Jan 2020 Win7 goes completely off support for security updates. Just sayin'...
(Those of you who pay attention will note that I am among the die-hard Win7 users...)

Please add me to your ping the list. Thank you.
Not giving up my Windows 7 at home. Nothing but problems with Windows 10 at work.
Was reading the other day on FR that there’s a registry entry to disable automatic updates in WX. If there’s also a way to disable telemetry, I might consider downgrading from 7.
Yeah, they force-fed every Windows 7 user their “latest and greatest” OS three years ago and they’ve only *now* overtaken them for market share *after* they closed all support for Windows 7.
I will stay with Win7 as long as it is feasible. It’s the best and most bug-free of all their operating systems which is why Microsoft is hellbent to kill it.
Plus, their Chinese masters apparently didn’t load up Windows 7 with spyware to keep tabs on us all.
Nope, not getting suckered.
Windows 7 is a virus petri dish. Windows 7 users are likely computers not connected to the internet. Or, company owned computers or virtual machines that run applications which are not Windows 10 compatible. Those apps must be very old. And they are probably great portals for spyware.
It is curious that the comparison is between 7 and 10. That basically makes VISTA, 8, 8.1 and non-release 9 duds.
Greatest?
I want the name of the idiot who thought TILES were a good idea and the names of all the idiots who agreed with him.
So they finally forcibly upgraded enough peoples pcs to make windows 10 numbers higher than windows 7.
Given that its 2019 and were talking about 2010 windows not exactly a rousing level of support. More like an opportunity for somebody else come along and make windows obsolete.
Are you telling me that there is no private concern who can make security updates for Wind7 if Microsoft won’t make em? Sounds like an opportunity to make tons of money.
I stuck with XP until I was dragged to win7, and will resist upgrading again. The new OS doesn’t really give me anything.
MS needs to refund part of the fee for Windows 10.
MS has broken things that worked tolerably well in Windows 7. They should be improving, not destroying.
1- the search facility. Lousy in Win 7, lousier in Win 10. I downloaded a search program, for nothing, which works well.
2- scroll bars that are not visible until you mouse over them. You don’t know where to put your mouse cursor until you mouse over them. Dumb. Time and mental energy lost.
3- for the PC edition, when the initial screen comes up upon booting, there is NOT A WORD on what to do next. Nothing. To fix it, display the simple message: “Swipe up on touchscreen, or hit SPACE BAR, or hit ENTER, to see logon screen.” Not hard, Microsoft!
4- the most annoying one for me. When copying a file, and a file with the same name is about to be overwritten, the dialogue does not tell you which file is newer or bigger. You have to display “more information.” This was OK in Win 7 and before. Why did you break it, Microsoft?
5- numerous instances of moving things to an unexpected place. Now I have to hunt for it. Minutes wasted. It is stupid that I have to do an internet search before I can find the thing that I want, whose location I knew very well under Win 7, but no longer know.
A migration guide for every version would be a good idea. A cheatsheet that shows you how you must now do things. Not hard, Microsoft!
I am still running lucky # 7.
