Patrick Mahomes made history Sunday when he became the second NFL player to ever throw for 50 touchdowns and 5,000 passing yards in a single season.
The only other player to have 50 touchdowns and more than 5,000 passing yards in a year is Peyton Manning, who did so at age 37 in 2013.

Never much of a football fan, so I’m wondering what has changed to make QB’s of recent so statistically superior to those who played of yesteryear? Maybe going as far back to the Unitas, Starr, Namath era.
I have not seen a baseball game in 25 years. I have no trouble falling asleep in 25 years. I don’t watch golf on TV either....another boring game to watch but amazing fun to actually play if one breaks 85 consistently.
Five Superbowl rings is the standard. As talented as he might be he has nearly one ring at this time.
Really a good question, because I remember watching Unitas play, and he was a superb QB. Mahones just stands out among his contemporaries, for 2 reasons, his young age of 23 and his mobility combined with throwing accuracy.
The old timers were not known for mobility except for Fran Tarkenton.
The "Nationless Felon League" is DEAD!
He is impressive, but the NFL officiating is determining too many outcomes. I have suggested they just let robots referee the games and they would do a better job.
No, but he may take the youngest team in the league, with a first year coach, to the super bowl. Hottest team in the league.
He is only 23, so he could play at high level for 10-12 years. Depending on how good his team-mates will be, he certainly seems to have to potential of winning a few SB rings.
I am not easily impressed by any QB. But watching a full game of Mahones last week, I was as impressed as when I watched QB Russell Wilson for the first time.
Right! That is something to crow about.
That was hilarious! Thanks for posting that link.
Couldn’t agree more on that point. Especially those oh so subjective “holding” and “pass interference” calls.
Who cares, I guess enough care, in spite of recent reduction in football ratings, many football games still conjure highest TV ratings of any competing shows.
Mahomes is a 2nd year player. He backed up Alex Smith last year.
Kansas City saw how good Mahomes is and traded Smith to Washington.
Go Chiefs - all the way through SB 2018!
until the anti-American: "hate America", anti-white people: "hate whitey", anti-Christian, anti-U.S. military, anti-law enforcement, pro perversion, pro "ONLY Black Lives Matter", SJW, PC Pink "Nationless Felon League" made it crystal clear, from the commissioner, to the owners, to the coaches, to the players, all the way down to the staff; that they literally H A T E THE COUNTRY AND THEIR OWN, (now former) FAN BASE!
We staunchly refuse to any longer support an organization that literally HATES US, our TRADITIONAL AMERICAN VALUES, and our country. ALL THEY CARE ABOUT IS TAKING YOUR MONEY AS THEY URINATE ALL OVER YOU, YOUR FAMILY, YOUR VALUES, and YOUR COUNTRY.
The "Nationless Felon League" can ROT!
Mahomes only played one full game last year so technically this is his second year but because of his finishing that single game.
Heck, I'm in better shape than Sonny Jurgensen was, LOL!
I see that it didn’t take long from ESPN to start crowing about all the black head coaches that got fired, although in every case they sucked at the job.
Maybe those fired black coaches can transition over to the NHL?
