You have 2 days (48 hours) to pay. (I have a special code, and at the moment I know that you have read this email).
If I don't get bitcoins, I will send your video to all your contacts, including family members, colleagues, etc. However, if I am paid, I will immediately destroy the video, and my trojan will be destruct someself.
If you want to get proof, answer "Yes!" and resend this letter to youself. And I will definitely send your video to your any 11 contacts.

If you have nothing to hide, show me your computer.
Funny as heck. I’d laugh at them too. I don’t watch porn, I don’t run windows or macos (linux, behind a formidable firewall), and I don’t even have a webcam. I’d probably yank their chain ...
I knew it was a bogus email because I covered my computer’s camera with a band-aid.
I lost passwords years ago on some "who cares" accounts and they were picking these up from password sites. I had changed the passwords (also years ago) after the hack became public so it was immediately obvious it was bogus crap.
I use two-factor authentication whenever possible on all high-value sites.

“BTW I hope this website isnt being monitored by the Federal Govermnent,”
I would be highly insulted if it wasn’t. And can you imagine how embarrassing it would be if all your friends were accused of being subversives and YOU weren’t? No thanks.
+1
best post of a useless thread
“But they have your password.”

Unless you’re joking - what makes you think that?
The password of mine they had was one of my really old "general use" passwords. They must have gotten it from one of the zillion hacks they've done over the years... perhaps a photography discussion forum or someplace.
Anyway... my PC doesn't have a webcam...if they have a video of me at my computer that would be some accomplishment!
I was referring to the story in the link to my post. The OP may not have his password stolen in his particular case

What gives it away as just another spam-generated conjob attempt is the claim it was sent from “his own address”. Spoofing an address is one of the oldest tricks in the book for scammers.
“Whats happening here is that spammers are spoofing your email address in an attempt to bypass any kind of spam protection you have. Unfortunately, depending on how your business spam protections are set up, this is actually a decently effective trick. You didnt provide a ton of details about what you do, but I think the first, best step is to go bug your IT teamif you have oneand get them to set up server-side rules that check to see if an email is being sent from outside your organization but using your organizations domain as part of the senders (fake) email address.”

When I was new to the internet and got mail from my own address - then I checked it out - it just looked on the surface as if it were from my addy. Comparable to someone spoofing a phone number to 911 to get the person with the real phone number “swatted”.
Relatively common trick.
That is just plain creepy
My guilties pleasure is watching cat videos, and videos of things like people trying to walk on ice, so I was not concerned. Especilly since the email had “fraud” written all over it.
Why would you even open this email??
No. You ain’t that important
You need a larger tin foil hat
The look in his eyes always reminds me of the guy who nutted up in “Full Metal Jacket”.
