A happy Christmas story -

(Liberal Washington is still an open carry state)

It is not only not “happy”, it was stupid.

There are places and events under which you can legally use your weapons.

Under the law, this was not one.

I assumed Marysville was in the patriotic side of eastern Washington. Much to my surprise, it is just a little east of Puget Sound and just a little north of Seattle.

Well, you say that, but it doesn’t appear as though the local police agree with you. The suspects in the store robbery were apprehended, not the citizens who shot out the tires.

Just saying.

Perhaps so but I'm with the "vigilantes" on this one.

Hopefully all the good guys involved had a bad case of amnesia the next morning.

Had a happy ending, but gun owners should be VERY careful about drawing-down on shoplifters and shooting tires out.

A lot can go sideways.

Not breaking news.

>>the driver pulled forward, causing one man confronting him to land on the hood.

After the suspect's car was used as a LETHAL weapon, all bets are off................

I hit post too soon;

Then the law is wrong.

This is nothing more than instant jury nullification.

DEAL with it.

Someone in an earlier thread on this remarked that Coastal is like Cabela’s with animal husbandry gear added in. Not the sort of place to expect unarmed customers.

“Under the law, this was not one.”

Depends on the state law.

These guys were pretty much idiots unless they pulled their guns after the car rammed someone.

I support shooting petty criminals. It will help to steel people’s nerves when serious killing needs to take place.

The accusation was; under the law, the citizens' detainment of the criminals and discharge of weapons was not lawful.

The result of those actions was the arrest of the criminals and the recovery of stolen property, which is CERTAINLY lawful.

I haven't drilled down and doubt if I will, but I'll bet none of these armed citizens will be charged with a crime.

And if so .... then the law recognized an unlawful act as lawful.

NULLIFICATION !

No rope needed because the criminals will now be adjudicated by a lawful judge

From another version of the story:

"The two shoppers who fired the shots didn’t stick around to talk to officers. Investigators want to talk to those unknown armed bystanders to get their statements."

I bet they would. I suspect the investigators will have to wait a long time.

I’m seeing multiple posts on this thread indicating disdain of the lawlessness on the part of the vigilantes. Before spouting off like that I would suggest checking the laws within the State/jurisdiction in question. In some places lethal force is approved for apprehension regarding felony crimes. Also for consideration, in some places a felony theft is determined by $$$ amount of thievery. In this case several tools totaling over $1000, in some jurisdictions theft over $100 is a felony.

I’ll reiterate that before some armchair, legal-scholar, internet warriors go off about how somebody is an idiot; perhaps you should research rather than assuming you know what you’re talking about.
The name calling doesn’t help your cause either. That is the go-to tool of left wing liberals. Those lacking substantive, logical, and cognitive argument resort to name-calling and shouting down. We here are better than that.

“If you’re a lawful citizen and you’re carrying a firearm legally,
and for whatever reason you choose to use your weapon to engage
someone for whatever you perceive the right reason to be, then
you’re obligated to stay and talk to the authorities,” Marysville
Police Commander Mark Thomas told KIRO Radio.

....I guess we’ll see......

Yes, a lot CAN go sideways...like these fools robbing the store was the first thing. I guess they could have called the police first & maybe had a lot more things going sideways. Admittedly, it was a crapshoot that worked out; fortunately.
