Pro forma sessions are called just so that President Trump cannot make any recess appointments during an adjournment. It’s hard to believe that the Senate majority is of the same party as the President. I do not recall these pro firma sessions being called in a similar situation during previous administrations democratic or republican.

Since we know that some Republican Senators not only oppose the wall, they oppose Trump. McConnell is probably protecting them.

We lose the House in a week.

Can you suggest a better time to put people in a room and make them protect their country?

Even if the Dems do nothing, you can embarrass them in front to the whole country.

But Ryan and McConnell are content to let Trump fight by himself. No GOP Senator speaks up alongside him, while the media uses Trump for target practice every damn day.

Under the Constitution the President can,”on extraordinary Occasions, convene both Houses” of Congress. Article 2, Section 3.

This proforma stuff is for the birds.

Get them in DC and lock them in a room.

If not, McConnell can use the nuclear option.

Schumer would in half a heartbeat.

Because on January 3rd, the chances of success go to zero.

And the newly seated Dem House has one objective-—impeach Trump.

Even if the Senate will not convict (and it will be close with these GOP squishes), they will impeach Trump just to wound him for 2020.
