Anyone Else Alone on Christmas Eve?
From Skooz's Comfy Home | 12/24/2018 | Skooz

Well, this seems to have become an annual event. Alone on Christmas Eve, reaching out to my fellow FReepers.

Myself, I have my daughter's hermit crab for company. And some great classical Christmas music. And, a little later, George Bailey and friends via BluRay.

Anyone else spending this evening solo?

Hang in there, Joe, I went through what you are now experiencing with my son, my first born, thirty years ago. We were living in Japan at the time and he was in college in the States. For some unknown reason he was very angry!

I happened to pick up a book about relationships and God which advised me to have patience and to turn my angry son and our relationship over to God. That didn’t mean to wash my hands of him but to ask God for His help.

Whenever my son would call and before the call ended, I would say, “ I love you, Scott.” He would begin to rant and say, “ You don’t love me, you never cared abou me and on and on”. I would quietly put down the phone my heart breaking.

Gradually things changed and over six months his answers went from you don,t love me to Yeah. sure! to Yeah to finally “ I love you to, Mom.” I even received a letter from his girlfriend telling me that Scott believed that I really did care about him,

years later when his daughter was born, he told me that he was glad he had a daughter because he knew what he had done to me and he did not want his wife to go through the same thing. To day at fifty, he has become a very thoughtful and devoted son.

I learned from that that just as I loved my son and let him know that despite what he did, my love was unconditional the same way that God’s love for me was also and that He is there if only we would acknowledge it. I wish you all the best. Merry Christmas and a better happier New Year!

Maybe you could try asking Him what the problem is. Is there something you are doing or not doing that does not agree with what He wants from you?

I had a discussion with an agnostic last night (I know you are not an agnostic) and he said he had asked the Lord for things and never received them. I told him to ask God “Who are you? Please reveal your presence to me if you are there.” Something like that. He doesn’t give good things to people who don’t even believe in Him. Why bother? The person will only conclude that whatever it was “just happened,” and was not a gift from God.

Go for the FAITH problem, not the specific lack in your life. If there is a faith problem. Get to the heart of the matter, which is NOT your unanswered prayer.

Make any sense?

He always seems to want something deeper and more spiritual and more important than what we are asking Him for.

Merry Christmas too All !!!

Working ? Utilities H2o, WasteWater, Electric, Gas, Comms ?

I spent many years working the Water Treatment Plant making sure Everybody on My Systems had it on Tap, on Demand, on All the time AND Potable. I was the new guy and it was cheaper to pay Me than anybody else even at 2x Normal plus just the right amount on 2 x plus 1.5 OT picking up the 2 double shifts on the Weekend. Our Christmas Bonus was 1 Week extra Pay. I LIKED those Shifts !!

And he rambles away again...

Again, MERRY CHRISTMAS TOO ALL !!! Stay Safe, Drive Safe, Enjoy

Interesting story. I’d never heard it before. Of course you must 1. Be the person you want to be and should be, including spiritually. Be whole and happy in your own skin. To attract like. And 2. Get out into the world and expose yourself to people.

Right now I have so little free time that mostly I focus on #1 and it’s working. I am quite happy inside me. I’m making a more secure, better companion for whomever I one day choose. I don’t know who will eventually be interested in me, but they will, at this point, be lucky. And I like feeling that way.

Interesting story. I’d never heard it before.

It’s not one of his best. If you haven’t delved into Kafka, especially the short stories, try one.

And a Happy New Year to you and yours.

I’ve taken about a year off (total) from FR because I disagreed with the nature of discourse.
Considering I’ve been here 20 that means I’ve a 95% approval of FR. Amazing.

Trump has turned out neither as bad as his critics thought, nor as good as his fans thought
Personally I’d grade him a B. He has a tough row to hoe.
