A team of Chinese researchers have turned cheap copper into a new material almost identical to gold, according to a study published in peer-reviewed journal Science Advances on Saturday.
The discovery will significantly reduce the use of rare, expensive metals in factories, said the authors.
Professor Sun Jian and colleagues at the Dalian Institute of Chemical Physics, at the Chinese Academy of Sciences in Liaoning, shot a copper target with a jet of hot, electrically charged argon gas.
The fast-moving ionised particles blasted copper atoms off the target. The atoms cooled down and condensed on the surface of a collecting device, producing a thin layer of sand.
Each grain of the sand had a diameter of only a few nanometres, or a thousandth of the size of a bacterium.

The next time I owe someone money, I will pay them in “a new material almost identical to gold”.

China. Even their gold is a cheap knockoff.

Probably not as it cost more to make this “new” material per oz. than the cost of actual Gold.

I have been doing for years by selling off my penny collection and using the proceeds to purchase gold.

Do not stand in front of a “jet of hot, electrically charged argon gas” or you will turn into thin layer of micro sand.

In other news, Chinese scientists turned Emperor Zero’s turds into a substance “almost identical” to Skittles.

"The method developed by Suns team can inject a large amount of energy into copper atoms and made the electrons more dense and stable, they said."NOW I understand. Gold must have electrons that are more dense and stable than electrons in copper. All you have to do is bulk up your electrons, and you will have gold!

Probably not as it cost more to make this new material per oz. than the cost of actual Gold.
They are probably using some sort of modified cyclotron, which consume boatloads of electricity and are very expensive to operate.
Plus, the end product is probably some unstable radioactive isotope.

Alchemists still trying to do the impossible, Chinese ones at that. Title is misleading. They came nowhere close. Deut. 29:29: The secret things belong to the LORD our God, but the things that are revealed belong to us and to our children forever, that we may do all the words of this law.

Copper has a similar weight and look to gold...
I think they mean specific gravity and appearance, to which their assertion is false on both counts. Sounds like they are performing plasma metal deposition, but reverse engineering a 'science article' geared for bright second graders is a fool's errand.

Maybe they could change obozo, poliski, maxine and a lot of others into something useful.

When we read the article it doesn’t say what the headline leads people to believe and most people only read headlines if they read at all. Its a shot at Trump. Deflate peoples trust in gold before he dumps the fed. Wont work.
