The way they are run, and with no punishment for wrongdoers who refuse to answer or even are proven to be wrongdoers, Congressional hearings can’t be any different. AFAIK, the most they can do is recommend that the DOJ undertake a criminal investigation.
Maybe generations ago Congressional hearings had teeth, but I have no idea how they could get teeth at this point.
If some criminal like Comey has his lawyers say “he can’t answer”, what is the solution? I have no idea. Beat them with rattan canes? That sounds good to me.

The story I read, many years ago, was that Laura told W that she would leave him if he didn’t quit drinking. It was apparently affecting their lives. I don’t recall if it was specifically said that he was alcoholic. If he wasn’t, and just liked to drink beer with the guys on occasion, it seems a little extreme for Laura to make such a demand.

This may seem daunting, but this is actually a good sign. The DOJ lawyer is making sure Comey doesn’t compromise any current ongoing investigations. Meaning that all the malfeasance that Congress is asking about, is already under investigation. Huber.

That’s a scary thought, for sure, that Wray and Whittaker would block the Committee’s legitimate inquiry, by sending along obstructionists to thwart any and all questions, on that blasted crook, HRC.
Additionally, why would the Committee even expect to get answers when the Committee must know whether or not there is an Active investigation that is ongoing, today, regarding their questions?
Obviously, the key to blocking Congressional Oversight is for the Justice Department to keep the FBI in perpetual investigation mode and never call them off. Just Dayham.
Yeah, that’s the tweet that made me wonder. President Trump doesn’t usually unload so heavily on someone unless they’ve said something. Threads are all over the FR front page about what Tillerson said now, but I hadn’t seen them when I posted.
Theory that’s been discussed over the past couple of days is that the note LB showed to Jeb said that 0vomit’s bolt hole on Martha’s Vineyard was being raided while everyone was at the funeral.
The biggest problem I have with that theory is Jeb’s reaction. Why would he care? Unless there was something at the MV location that was seriously incriminating to him.
IMO whatever Jeb saw had to be directly affecting him. It had to be something that was a huge disaster for him, like incarceration, execution, massive loss of money to the point that it would seriously affect his lifestyle. I can’t think of what else a derp might worry or care about, but those would be pretty high on the list, I assume.
