Thanks for the Der Spiegel article on the major events in France.

I must admit, I still do not understand it all, because there is no direct correlation to American political divides.

In general, it seems the people are protesting against the horror show socialism and globalism are making of their country ... but then they seem to be asking for more socialism.

HERE IS MY TAKE ON IT: France has no intention of throwing off the socialist parasite or the not-so-gradual shift to EU, thought-controlled tyranny. Even the so-called right wing politician, Marine Le Pen, is a socialist.

France, whose revolutionary Jacobinism was the immediate ancestor of violent Marxism, i.e., communism, has become a pathetic loser nation and there appears to be no turning back.

The best we could hope for is that Le Pen achieves power and slows down the transformation of France into the first MAJOR Islamic nuclear power (They have a large, probably operational, nuclear arsenal).

The Sovereign Individual is the title of a really excellent book by a friend of mine, James Dale Davidson. (And by the way, James is not a globalist at all as he has sometimes been portrayed, but essentially a libertarian.)

This is a very nice start; but, the lower tariffs won't accomplish much unless non-tariff barriers are also removed.

Also, China has to somehow stop stealing our technology. I heard they even stole the secret formula for Coca Cola. (Serious!)

War with China, given current geopolitical conditions, is almost inevitable. The sooner the American public understands this, the better.

One of the vilest canards of the globalists is the obvious falsehood that nations with extensive trade contact do not go to war.

That is a lie. WWI and WWII are both examples of wars between European nations with EXTENSIVE trade before the wars.

On the other hand, the USA and USSR never got into a shooting war, in part because we had no trade with them, hence, nothing but ideology to argue about.

Given the extreme likelihood of war with China in the not-too-distant future, we might be better off to encircle them (like we did the USSR) and cut off all trade. This would allow our superior economic system to utterly defeat them, as it did the communist USSR.
