Miss America yanks N.J. pageant's license, throwing congeniality out the window
NJ Advanced Media ^ | December 5, 2018

n the weeks before the Miss America competition in September, various factions of the pageant faithful were at war over changes to the traditional Atlantic City event implemented by new pageant leaders.

Somehow, the pageant weathered the drama long enough to crown Miss America 2019, Nia Franklin, onstage at Boardwalk Hall.

Now, the pageant's internal strife is entering the public arena once again. The Associated Press reports that pageant leaders have terminated the licenses of several state pageants, including the Miss New Jersey pageant.

Miss America has already moved to replace the directors of five other state pageants. Now, the pageant's home state, along with Florida and New York, have been added to that group, which includes Pennsylvania, West Virginia, Georgia, and Tennessee as well as Colorado, where state leaders quit in protest.

Miss America stepped on to the walkway illuminated by the foot lights. She arrived at the walkway end, surrounded by the local pagent audience.

I flipped the switches and twisted the reostats and the lights came up displaying her in all her glory

Them bang. All the lights in the arena went out. the main breaker tripped. the darkness was total

My memory of a Miss America Pagent

“Gretchen Carlson is a pox on fun and traditional America.” How’s it go? “Hell knows no fury as a shunned woman”. Something like that, lol 😂...

The answer to all of those should have been “world peace”.

It would be hilarious to have a Miss Normal USA pageant, complete with swimsuits, cooking contests, thoughts on (heterosexual) marriage, etc.

I'd bet it would be really popular.

Why do they even still have these dumb contests? The whole thing is a farce. If people want to look at girls in swimsuits, there are plenty of ways to do that without sitting through some boring 2-hour phony contest that asks these women how they would save the world.

Time to chuck these contests. They came around when women were "the girl next door".

Now....like many of these "contests", they're political.

Does the girl next door still exist? Of course...but it's no longer the bottom line for these contests.

They are certainly normalizing sloppy fat women (while maintaining the pressure on men to avoid baldness or guts). Rush was right: Feminism was created to mainstream unattractive women.
