Apple loses one of their biggest shills. There aren’t enough fingers and toes in a migrant caravan to count the number of hours he has droned on about his issues and fed updates to the captive masses. Now what will he give away on his show? stuff from the store?

Thank you for that, but I doubt if anyone here cares who you do or do not listen to.

Agreed.

I don't listen to Rush much these days, mostly because I'm busy but also because he's lost a step or two.

Used to be a guy would be laughing through half his show, and hearing about the next counterattack against the idiot Left for the rest of the time.

He's seldom funny these days, and seldom on the cutting edge.

But he changed the world, changed my politics, changed my life in the late 80s, and I'll be forever grateful.

Rush Limbaugh pissed off at Apple CEO Tim Cook’s apparently anti-Free Speech speech rips him a new one today on the Rush Limbaugh Show, but from comments from other Freepers who heard his comments, stopped short of saying he was through with Apple devices or "cooperation" which Rush has never claimed in the past.—PING!

Apple and Rush Limbaugh Ping!

If you want on or off the Mac Ping List, Freepmail me.

I listed to him too and what surprised me was his statement that Apple's IPhone is not affected by tariffs. But that could be Trump's ace in the hole if push comes to shove against China.......

If Rush stops running any commercials the show is doomed.

Every single radio and TV station is doomed without advertisers.........

Heck, the local show hosts that air before Rush comes on at noon air more ads than Rush's show does........

Here's a little tidbit. The networks that host NFL football charge advertisement fees based on promised viewership. If the viewership drops below a promised level, they have to issue refunds to the advertisers.

That's why they are going out of their way to try to avoid the controversial crap such as players still taking knees. They don't want to lose their audience.

Breitbart news article about Tim Cook’s predicate reprehensible, progressive, anti Free-Speech acceptance speech which caused Rush Limbaugh’s righteous anger:
Apple CEO Tim Cook: Banning ‘Hate, Division’ Is ‘Right Thing to Do’
Breitbart.com— by Robert Kraychik, December 3, 2018

Apple CEO Tim Cook advocated for censorship of “those who push hate [and] division” across his company’s digital platforms during an Anti-Defamation League (ADL) event on Monday in New York City, NY.

Cook was awarded the ADL’s first “Courage Against Hate Award” at the ADL’s “Never Is Now Summit on Anti-Semitism and Hate.” The ADL described Apple’s top executive as a “courageous and visionary leader” who is “dedicated to fighting hate” and “racist vitriol.”

YouTube Video of Tim Cook speaking at ADL event.

Cook said:

Do not be indifferent to the bloodshed of your fellow man. Do not be indifferent. This mandate moves us to speak up for immigrants and for those who seek opportunity in the United States. We do it not only because their individual dignity, creativity, and ingenuity have the power to make this country an even better place, but because our own humanity commands us to welcome those who need welcome.

It moves us to speak up for the LGBTQ community, for those whose differences can make them a target for violence and scorn. We do so not only because these unique and uncommon perspectives can open our eyes to new ways of thinking, but because our own dignity moves us to see the dignity in others.

Perhaps most importantly, it drives us not to be bystanders as hate tries to make its headquarters in the digital world. At Apple. we believe that technology needs to have a clear point of view on this challenge. There is no time to get tied up in knots.

That’s why we only have one message for those who seek to push hate, division, and violence. you have no place on our platforms. You have no home here.

From the earliest days of iTunes to Apple Music today, we have always prohibited music with a music of white supremacy. Why? Because it’s the right thing to do, and as we showed this year we won’t give a platform to violent conspiracy theorists on the app store. Why? Because it’s the right thing to do.

My friends, if we can’t be clear on moral questions like these, then we’ve got big problems. At Apple, we are not afraid to say that our values drive our curation decisions. And why should we be? Doing what’s right, creating experiences free from violence and hate — experiences that empower creativity and new ideas — is what our customers want us to do.

… We believe the future should belong to people who use technology to build a better, more inclusive, and more hopeful world.

Cook suggested that the Holocaust was a function of excessively free speech and expression, invoking Kristallnacht:

History is full of examples when those with power and those who ought to have good judgment instead look the other way. I believe the most sacred thing that each of us given is our judgment, our morality, or own innate desire to separate right from wrong. Choosing to set that responsibility aside at a moment of trial is a sin. We as individuals have the power to know, and feel, and act; and we ought to use it. That’s a lesson that Ruth Lansing knows well. Ruth just turned 100 on November 13th. She was recently interviewed by the BBC for a more solemn occasion, the 80th anniversary of Kristallnacht.

ADL CEO Jonathan Greenblatt praised Apple’s deplatforming of Alex Jones and Infowars while linking “immigration” with “hate.” He said, “[Tim Cook] has also shown leadership in tackling consequential issues that are core to ADL’s global mission in fighting anti-Semitism and hate in all its forms. On issues like immigration, LGBTQ rights, to online hate, and civil rights. … Apple was the first company to remove Alex Jones’s hateful anti-government conspiratorial rants from their platform, and other tech companies, as we know, followed their lead.” He described Cook as “nothing short of courageous” in his advocacy for online censorship.

Both Cook and Greenblatt linked the ascendance of President Donald Trump to what they said is a contemporary increase in anti-Semitism and other bigotries, with the former describing current times as “a moment when the struggle against hate has renewed importance.” The ADL regularly frames anti-Semitism as rising in America following Trump’s election to the presidency.

The ADL describes itself as “the world’s leading anti-hate organization” with a “timeless mission is to protect the Jewish people and to secure justice and fair treatment for all.”

Watch Cook’s entire speech and Greenblatt’s introduction here. ABSOLUTELY REPREHENSIBLE !

"rush" (lower case) has been an Apple corporate-shill, fan boy for decades. Stopped listening to him years ago.

rush has been irrelevant for a very long time. 98% of the stories and info "rush" talks about daily for over 20 million dollars a year, I already read here on Free Republic between 6 hours to two days beforehand!

rush is just now waking up to how nefarious Apple is? Boy, it took him a long time to wise up to a fact the overwhelming majority of us have known for years. I guess he liked all the $ and Apple perks he got, and milked it for all it was worth before he finally had this "revelation".

rush (lower case) only cares about the money.

His non-program is just one giant, 3 hour long infomercial with a tiny smattering of stories and information that we have already read here on Free Republic between 6 hours and two days ahead of time before he gets around to bloviating about it.

We listened to him for many years but no more. The guy has become totally irrelevant ever since the money and fame went to his head.

It appears your 24/7 subscription is short-changing you. Check the 2:19 mark:

??? Very interesting . . . “There goes any cooperation with Apple” does come through on your link - and on 24/7, they left that out.

Go figure - it is different on 24/7.

The Problem with Rush’s 24/7 site is that he even has ads running during his recorded shows. Shows I like listening to after work.

Not during the audio only replays. His show washes out to about 1 and a half hours daily and some of that time is devoted to local stations. TV shows run about 38-40 minutes per hour show, I regularly edit commercials out of TV shows.

I just went and listened to Rush denounce Cook, he said absolutely nothing about Apple products.

If Freepers misquote Rush who can we turn too for Truth?

Yes, I have those. I do not like them, especially compared to Hudson Park that sell at Bloomingdales.

They got ratty qucikly, holes popping up there and there.

They are comfortable sheets, but not as comfortable as Hudson Park and I will never buy them again.

(Also, I wash them in hot water, they say to wash them in cold, maybe this has something to do with it.)

First of all, Freepers often disagree with each other, and no one can be believed at face value as being truthful. It's sad but true, Freepers are people and one still needs to sift through layers of information to come up with what they best believe represents Truth.

When I was young, the mantra was "don't believe anyone over 30!". Now it's "don't believe anything you see on the Internet!". And be nice to one another... (a hard sell in today's opinionated atmosphere).

Microsoft actually saved Apple by making a $150,000,000 investment in them back in 1997. (Source Link) and I don't think Rush had much if anything to do with it.

Sigh. No, Wired and John C. Abell’s article merely repeated the MYTH that Microsoft bailed Apple out of a near bankruptcy in 1997.

"In a remarkable feat of negotiating legerdemain, Apple co-founder Steve Jobs got needed cash — in return for non-voting shares — and an assurance that Microsoft would support Office for the Mac for five years. Apple agreed to drop a long-running lawsuit in which they alleged Microsoft copied the look and feel of the Mac OS for Windows and to make Internet Explorer the default browser on its computers — but not the only choice."

The actual facts are hinted at by Abell’s article, but glossed over. What actually occurred was that Microsoft settled a patent and copyright lawsuit that, had it gone to trial in the next few months, would have resulted in billions of dollars in awards to Apple and for which Apple had smoking gun evidence of the intellectual property theft . . . and the suit had nothing to do with the look and feel of Windows but everything to do with the outright theft of Apple’s QuickTime code that was found inside Microsoft’s Windows Media Player software, including an Apple software engineer’s Social Security Number, mother’s name, and other identifying markers imbedded as identifiers in the code.

This lawsuit was coming to a head right at the time the Clinton Justice Department was looking to break Microsoft up into several smaller companies due to just such anti-competitive practices as intellectual property theft leading to forced acquisitions of smaller competitors. Microsoft did not need the distraction of a high profile lawsuit with such an antitrust case being brought, so they agreed to settle with Steve Jobs and Apple.

I’ve read the three interlocking agreements on Nexus-Lexus which were unsealed after ten years which settled this lawsuit and they are quite explicitly beneficial to Apple at Microsoft’s expense. They set out what each companys’ obligations were to settle the disputes were:

When Abell’s and Wired’s so-called bail-out is claimed to have occurred (it’s obvious Abell did no research), Apple had experienced three profitable quarters in the black, had over $2 billion in cash and short term cash equivalents and no debt. In addition, Apple had just acquired NeXT and Steve Jobs for approximately $400 million. In other words, they were no longer any where near bankruptcy. Apple had already turned that corner due to Jobs’ efforts.

This has probably been the fiftieth time on FR I’ve had to debunk this myth pushed by Microsoft’s PR department. . . but the factual evidence does not support their tale. A company which bails-out another normally demands voting control by putting people on the rescued company’s board-of-directors and certainly does NOT bail it out by buying five-year restricted non-voting stock where they have ZERO control.

No, there was no MS lifeline. . . It’s a myth. See above.
